Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Can I use either the Retrosound Amplified Radio Antenna HPA-1 or WPA-1 on a car that has a POSITIVE Ground 12 volt DC electrical system?

Asked by KEN on July 07, 2017

A:

This antenna didn't work for me at all. Even with Negative ground. I really doubt if it can be used reverse polarity. In fact, I don't see how the radio can be used reverse. I converted my old cars to 12V neg. ground. It is very easy. My opinion.....don't but it.

Q:

Looking for a Wiring Diagram. Does this antenna physically get connected to the body of the car? Meaning connected to the NEGATIVE (Ground) of the car?

Asked by MARK on July 03, 2016

A:

Thank you for your Question. The RetroSound HPA1 instructions state to place the mainbody of the antenna as high as possible in the vehicle avoiding any high current wiring. Ground the main body of the HPA1 to a clean metal point using the small braided cable with eyelet. Connect the thin black wire to a 12v ignition source or the blue wire on your retrosound radio and plug the antenna into the back of the radio.

Q:

can this unit be mounted under hood?

Asked by CHARLES on April 03, 2016

A:

Thank you for your question. The manufacturer recommends it be mounted inside the vehicle. It's not designed to withstand the under hood temperatures, therefore not recommended to be mounted under the hood.
