Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

These valve springs came in the mail from Summit today and are a dark navy blue rather than a bright blue, made in Mexico, and some of the paint is chipped/worn off. Is this what everyone else has been getting? Just wanted to double check. See attached pictures.

Asked by OMAR on September 13, 2017

A:

Mine were new with no chips nor were they worn

A:

The springs say they are for a ls style engine. If you have a Chevy 400 then you have the wrong application.

Answer This Question

Q:

Can these springs be used on the 906 Vortec heads? I already have the valve guides machined for more retainer to seal clearance and .530" diameter valve stem seals, but am wanting to upgrade the springs for the .460" IN and .480" EX cam that I am using. If these would work, What retainers and locks do I use?

Asked by MARK on April 14, 2017

A:

Yes, you should have just installed these springs and the comp cam retainers and you were good to go. You machining the top of guides will only allow more lift, if that what you are after. My experience with this ls spring and comp cam retainers er setup on non machined factory Vortec heads was a max of .550 lift before the comp retainer hitting the factory seals. I'm also running a .480 lift cam.
