MSD's flying magnet crank triggers use four magnets permanently embedded in an aluminum wheel. As the crank rotates, the magnets pass a non-magnetic pickup, which triggers the ignition. These MSD systems include a trigger wheel, pickup, CNC-machined aluminum mounting bracket, and hardware.

Will this crank trigger kit work with the Summit Racing SFI Braket Racer Harmonic Damper SUM-C4272?

A:

Thank you for your question. MSD Ignition 8644 will not work with the SUM-C4272 damper due to the diameter requirements of the crank trigger. This crank trigger must us a 7.25 in. diameter damper such as Fluidamper FLU-720201 which can be viewed by copying and pasting the link below.

When using with and ATI balancer (917630) and the crank trigger,(wheel) that has 9 slots/holes. And the balancer had three bolt GM style pattern, the wheel would fit on three different ways. And we was going for 35°BTDC,We couldn`t get there with the pickup, all the way top or bottom of the pickup`s slot. So we/the engine builder removed it for the felt like the 20th time and drilled more holes and finely got what we wanted for the last hour, of course this added $ to my dyno bill. He`s thoughts NOT ALL BALANCERS are CREATED EQUELL, this was on and big block Ford 547ci with Eagle crank... BUT still LIKE my the MSD and ATI parts. My thought is, it`s 2017 and didn`t think I was doing any EXOTIC!!!!! ...read more
