Lokar's Hi-Tech flexible braided stainless transmission dipsticks match right up with other Lokar accessories. They feature a flexible, heat-resistant PTFE rod with a braided stainless steel cover. The inner rod is stamped with appropriate trans-fluid levels, and the outer housing has a slim design that allows for mounting inside of the headers. These dipsticks are available in both firewall-mount and trans-mount styles, and a funnel adapter is included for assistance with filling.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

I recently purchased a 67 El Camino (th350 tranny) that came with this dipstick, but it reads a whole quart over the full line? Is there a way to calibrate it or something so that it reads correctly? I don't have the installation instructions of course so I'm hoping someone here knows.

Asked by ZAKKARY on January 16, 2018

A:

If you need to shorten the inner wire you can. There is a set screw in the handle and that will allow you to take the inner wire out and cut it with a good pair of Wire Cutters. Keep in mind it is on you to know that Full is Full and if you change the calibration on the dipstick and hurt the trans that would be on you. ( Keep in mind you can not hurt a trans with too much fluid it will leak but not get hurt.
If you do not have enough fluid you can hurt a trans.) I understand you would want it to be correct and we can help you get it where you need it to be. Please call our Technical Department at Lokar inc. and we can work with you.

Answer This Question

Q:

I have this dip stick but I am finding that it does not stay connected to the transmission. It’s only held in by o rings. Is there a way to make this connection tighter?

Asked by JOHN D on August 25, 2019

A:

The version I recently received uses the top hat style seal and not the other rings. I think the older style used orings. You may want to contact Lokar directly. I found their reps are very helpful. Good luck.

Answer This Question

Q:

I have a 91 GMC Jimmy with the TH400 on it. I have a deep pan that adds 2 qts of transmission fluid. Will this be compatible with a deep pan and will it read correctly.

Asked by JASON on June 30, 2018

A:

The reading is at the full capacity in relation to the valve body and will not change. Yes it will read correctly.
If you would like anymore assistance with this please call 877-469-7440 or email tech@lokar.com .
