LizardSkin Sound Control Formula is a high-tech coating that stops the vibration of sound waves coming from a surface before they enter the air. LizardSkin Sound Control can be used with LizardSkin ceramic insulation; when used together, LizardSkin Sound Control must be applied first. Now, you can achieve the maximum in sound and noise reduction, greatly enhancing your audio system. Typical applications include firewalls, floor pans, transmission tunnels, doors, hoods, trunk lids, under headliners, inside fenders, panel van walls, and other areas that generate vibration and noise. For maximum acoustic performance, coat the entire interior surface and the floor, inside and out. LizardSkin is completely water soluble, meaning it offers an easy cleanup with just soap and water. Each 2 gallon container covers 46-50 sq. ft. with .025-.040 in. thickness.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Two part question. Can you put a top coat over either the sound deadener or ceramic coating. And how does it work with carpet applications over. Does/will the glue adhere well to keep the carpet in place.

Asked by ANGELO on December 08, 2018

A:

Both LizardSkin products can be Top Coated after they have completely cured. However if you are going to install carpet there is no need to Top Coat it. Just use any standard carpet glue and the carpet will adhere to the LizardSkin. Just a side note most of the high end upholstery shops say they never use carpet glue that between the seats, seat belts and the door sill trim that is bolted in it holds the carpet in place with no glue and if you ever need to change the carpet out it will much easier to remove.

Answer This Question

Q:

I am trying to quiet down the tire noise on a Jeep wrangler 4 door and was wondering if I took the carpet out and sprayed this product on the floors, put the carpet back, would it deaden the sound for me?

Asked by BECK on September 22, 2017

A:

I don't know if anything will quiet down the tire noise. I used it on a car that I am building and it did quite down the cabin noise and I did under the carpet and I did under the car also.

Good luck

Answer This Question

Q:

why use sound control vs ceramic, since ceramic has glass spheres and glass insulators are also reducing sound?

Asked by BILL on June 06, 2018

A:

Our ceramic insulation does not have glass sphere's in it. It's a complete specialty designed Insulating formula that uses a special Ceramic designed just for this product. In order the dampen sound and insulate you must use two different products to achieve maximum results. Dampening sound requires the right dampening particles and precise weight to stop sound migration through the substrate. The ceramic Insulation has zero sound dampening ability there's no dampening particles in it and not enough weight. The Sound Control has no insulating ability since it has no ceramic in it. Our Ceramic Insulation is only 3 lbs per 25 sq ft at 40 mils of thickness and the Sound Control has 11 lbs per 25 sq ft at 40 mils thick. When doing the perfect application you install the Sound Control first and then stack the Ceramic Insulation right on top of it.

Answer This Question

Q:

Can I use dymamat over it?

Asked by DANNY on October 15, 2018

A:

I've seen it done and it will stick to LizardSkin. However, if you apply the recommended thickness of 40 mils of Sound Control and 40 mils of Ceramic Insulation. These two products for exceed any mat products ability to do the same job. There is no need to add them on top of our products. You are just adding more weight with little benefit gain. Depending on the application if you feel you need more just apply more coats of LizardSkin products they do improve the thicker they get. Thanks, Marx
