Driven Racing Oil BR break-in motor oil is used to break-in and dyno all engines. Petroleum oil provides the highest levels of zinc and phosphorus for flat-tappet engines. Additive package promotes ring seal and provides maximum protection available for cams and lifters during initial break-in. It requires no additional additives and is good for full power pulls on the dyno, one night of racing or up to 400 miles on the street. It provides maximum compression and generates maximum horsepower. Compatible with methanol and high-octane race fuels. Combined with Driven Racing Oil engine assembly grease, BR provides the highest levels of protection for camshafts, lifters, wrist pins, distributor gears, push rods and valve retainers. The Driven Racing Oil BR break-in motor oil can be used for up to 2 hours of break-in/dyno time before changing to race oil.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Is this oil good for mechanical roller camshaft break-in.

Asked by MARK on September 03, 2017

A:

BR30 is a general purpose engine break-in oil. Mechanical roller cams/lifters require no break-in like conventional flat tappet cams.

Answer This Question

Q:

Would I be able to use this break in oil or any kind of motor break in oil that has zinc additive, to break in my flat Tappet comp cam kit?

Asked by JAMES on March 18, 2019

A:

You can use the Driven BR break-in oil to break-in your flat tappet cam. It was designed specifically for this purpose, and the Driven BR oil doesn't require the use of a break-in additive. The BR is ready to use as is, and it provides excellent break-in protection.

Answer This Question

Q:

How much Zinc does this oil contain?

Asked by STEPHEN on February 20, 2019

A:

Thanks for the question. The BR break-in oil contains 2,400 ppm of Secondary ZDDP, which is the most active form of Zinc. You see, not all sources of Zinc are the same in terms of anti-wear protection. The Secondary ZDDP provides the best anti-wear protection of any Zinc source. Also, Zinc levels above 2,800 ppm can actually increase wear, so it is important to choose a break-in oil with enough Zinc (more than 1,800 ppm) but not too much (less than 2,800 ppm). Please let us know if you have any other questions.
