Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

I live at an elevation of 7000ft. and work at an elevation of 5500ft. I have a stock 86 chevy 1 ton dually with a 454 that I use often. I never have this engine higher than 6000 rpm's. It currently has a 750cfm (summit) carb on it and burns rich even after I swapped jets. I was wondering if the Holley 670 carb would be a better choice?

Asked by KENNY on October 14, 2016

A:

I put this on my 82 s-10 (383 stroker) and it works great. Best to ask around.

Q:

What’s the best in tank fuel pump to use with this

Asked by BOBBY on January 10, 2019

A:

We would suggest a 190-255 LPH pump. However, we would suggest that you speak to one of our techs so that we can gather more information about your combination.

Q:

Any one know if this carburetor is compatible with a 1976 C10 with a 454 big block with mild cam ??

Asked by ROBERTO JR on May 31, 2017

A:

it would be compatible but you would get more out of 770cfm avenger and put heavier spring in four barrel if your want more fuel economy

Q:

I am working on an '81 Chevy Corvette and going from a stock 350 to a 383 crate engine. Would the 670 cfm carburetor be good enough on this engine or should I use the 750 cfm instead?

Asked by LYNN on February 13, 2019

A:

we would suggest staying with the 670 for the crate engine that you described.

very good carb

I installed this carb on a 79 Chevy truck with a mild 350. It came out of the box looking great and was a straight forward install. It is much lighter than a conventional carb and the clear fuel bowl glasses are very nice. I did have to adjust the floats, idle mixture screws and work with the choke to get the fast idle to come off. Typical adjustments I would expect to perform on a new carb. ...read more

Carburetor installed on 327 10.5:1 compression, 408 hp provided much more performance than Edelbrock 750 (1411). Tuning Holley requires patience and a good understanding of your engine but solved boiling fuel problem after all other variables controlled. For my application, this carb was the right choice.

Great carb

This is a great looking carb that worked very good out of the box with no adjustments. I was having problems getting my engine to idle with the cam I am using, but the 4 corner idle on this carb fixed my problem.

Not great out of the box

I have a GMPP 350 crate engine with Vortec heads, Nothing special. Put the carb on and had HUGH stumble in it. I originally thought it was too small a accelerator pump shot but after researching online I found these are jetted really low out of the box. 65 primary and 68 secondary. I found many posts about this (and accelerator pump arms not being adjusted correctly from factory) after going to 68/72s the car was drivable. I'm currently at 72/74 and now it finally runs "right" and plugs look good. The point of all this is; BE CAREFUL! The lean jetting this carb comes with could cause damage if your not careful. Most people report 70/72 main jets seem to be about right. I rated the item down on value due to having to purchase so many jets, discharge nozzles, gaskets, springs, cams, etc. It DOES run stronger than my 1406 Edelbrock though,... After tuning. ...read more

Summit excellent return policy

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

The Holly St Avenger worked great. Originally I purchased a Holly 4160 series that turned out to be the lemon of my Holly Carburetor experiences. Fortunately Summit graciously complied with their 90 day return policy and allowed me to exchange my 4160 lemon for a St Avenger and it turned out to be a plug and play success. Just some FYI, I’ve found if installing on an old iron Ford manifold you’ll need to block the EGR port(s). ...read more
