Answer This Question

Q:

I have a 1993 Mastercraft using a 285HP HO 351W. Will this engine be a direct replacement? Also, the engine turns clockwise when viewed from the front. Is this standard or reverse rotation? Thanks

Asked by PAUL on August 29, 2017

A:

Thank you for your question. The First Mate Marine FO351LA crate engine is standard (clockwise) rotation. Rotation is determined by looking at the front of the engine. This engine will bolt in your 1993 Mastercraft, but this is a replacement for the lower 235 and 250 horsepower applications. Unfortunately, we do not offer a replacement for the 285 horsepower engine at this time.

Q:

I have a 1972 302 block in my boat now. Will the intake, exhaust and rear end end hook up to my existing equip.

Asked by JERRY on March 07, 2016

A:

Intake manifold will not as 351w / 5.8 litre is wider . Exhaust logs, engine mounts and intermediate housing for 302 will all bolt up. It's a fairly simple swap and I've done it more then a few times having spent 23 years in the industry
