I bought this for two reasons, high boiling point and no pressure. I have a 34 Coupe with a small engine compartment so it ran about 195-200 normal. I am always afraid with it that high the pressure would blow a hose which it did in the past. I did a thorough flush as instructed and filled it up. Pressure seems like it was described but the car runs hotter than it did. I am a little concerned with it hitting 220-225 in traffic with no hood on and have not kicked any AC on yet. It did say it might run hotter so only time will tell. Anyone has similar experience I would love to know how it turned out. ...read more

Evans Cooling High Performance Waterless Coolant

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
Since it is important that water not be added to Evans coolant I was surprised that Summitt failed to include an Evans sticker with my purchase. I contacted the VP of marketing for Evans who promptly sent me stickers. One was a warning not to add water. Great company!!!

Evans Cool NPG/High Perform., Waterless coolant

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
I've now made three trips in our original 1949, Straight 8, Packard Touring Sedan, that went out across the Nevada deserts on pavement and across the abandoned old original first transcontinental "Lincoln Highway" thru the Nev. Sands and Deserts, and thru the Utah Salt Flats. One trip included two days of around 110*F and at slow speeds and over the original mountain crossings that were around the 7,000+ and 8,000+ feet and never had any problems or over heating that lead to many other cars having temperature and vapor locking issues. My last trip across the lower southern states freeways and up to the Great Lakes and back across to California on the I-80 at all of the freeway speeds, and even crawling thru a parade in Wyoming on the way home with never a cooling problem of any kind! I have no auxiliary cooling fans, and the heater's core element was blocked in too. This is an amazing product. Can't remember any HOT days or slow moving parades when the big old, long, cast iron straight 8 type cars weren't overheating or boiling out half of your old style anti-freeze along the ride. I've always carried another gallon with me just in case I might have needed to add some more like with the old coolants but never needed to add any in over ten thousand miles. *Just be sure that you get the correct grade or type for your specific vehicle. Their technical service phone lines will help you select the correct one in the first place. *Hint Hint* Mr. QTF7 11-17-2015 ...read more

Keep Your Cool

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
I have just built a 535 cu. in. big block Mopar based on a 440 block bored out to 4.350. The block was cast in 1965 so I was concerned with what I had heard about these older castings overheating when bored. Well I had nothing to fear because even with stop and go traffic the temp gauge never got over 200 degrees. The other reason I purchased Evans coolant is I have aluminum heads, water pump housing with pump and radiator. No corrosion at all not even that tell tale flaky area where a hose was seeping. Thanks to Evans coolant I'll never have to worry about overheating or buying another antifreeze. ...read more

Waterless coolant

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
I purchased the whole system, coolant, prep fluid and conversion kit. I followed the instructions. The operation was easy but time consuming. My test results from the test strip showed close to 0% for water in the system. I reversed the hose from my shop vac for the high volume low pressure. This seemed to work fine for removing unwanted antifreeze. My vehicle is put up for the winter, I will have a better idea of how the Evans works when I start driving again. The temp was 10F the other day and the system was still liquid so no freeze ups so far ...read more

Evans Coolant blows head gaskets in Mopar RB

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
I have been a Mopar man for 45 years. We built a high end 512 stroker last year for my 63 Fury Convertible. We used top shelf components . Indy EZ heads all set up for a Max Wedge Cross Ram . I decided to try Evans Coolant after 1700 miles of trouble free driving. They claim it will drop 20 degrees and is easy on aluminum radiators. Followed their install instructions as recommended. I took the car to local cruise night with no difference in temperature at all. Took the car our again next morning 5 miles away from home and blew athe head gasket between the 3 and 5 hole. I thought it might be vapor lock that caused it. I removed the cylinder head and had it decked along valve job new seals ect. New 9001 headgasket and .031 intake gasket then made a huge mistake and installed the evans coolant again with vaccume so there would be no air in the system . Drove the car less the 50 miles and blew the head gasket on the passenger side between 2 and 4 hole. This time had to have the head welded up and completely rebuilt. Head will be done tomorrow and back in my Fury. I have never head of any big block Mopar blowing head gaskets under normal circumstances. I have buddies that have been professionally building Mopar engines since the 70s. They have never even heard of a RB engine blowing a head gasket. Just rarely ever happens. I am re installing the head today and I flushed all the Evans out of my engine. Re installing 50/50 anti freeze. My advice is to stay clear of Evans Coolant. I have head of many other Mopar enthusiasts having the same problems with aluminum heads in high performance engines . I feel that Evans just does not flow like a 50/50 mix antifreeze . I know for sure it creates hot spots that blow head gaskets . EVANS cost me hundreds of dollars and many hours of labor on a 25K motor that ran perfect for over 1700 miles and made 610 HP and 640 TQ that was built to take a beating and last many years. You would think Evans would do more research before they sell there products. ...read more

Would never use again

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
I purchased Evans coolant to run in my 1967 Fairlane. After about 2 weeks of putting in the coolant according to manufacturers specs, I found two leaks. Pulled the intake manifold and found coolant in the heads and down in the cylinders. Manufacturer told me I used the wrong type of gaskets but I could never find a reference to gaskets to use in their documentation. Keep in mind that this engine ran fine with no leaks on normal antifreeze. This motor was a fairly fresh rebuild and when engine was taken apart it was found the cylinder walls were pitted. Now I am rebuilding motor again. The only thing worse than Evans coolant is their customer service. ...read more

Is waterless the way to go?

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EVN-EC53001
Used this product on two recent engine rebuilds. 1973 MGB and 1951 Chrysler Windsor Deluxe. The MGB temperature seems to be doing fine -- runs right in the middle of the gauge (though we have not had any hot weather yet). I bought the car non-running so I don't know how hot or cool it ran before the rebuild. The Chrysler is not doing well. The engine itself seems to run beautifully but it is definitely running hot -- much warmer than before the rebuild. The elevated engine bay temperatures are causing fuel percolation and all of the runnability and reliability problems that come with it. Yesterday was in the mid-70s and I was stranded on the side of the road until it cooled down. It absolutely cannot be driven in traffic (and where isn't there traffic these days?). Bottom line: Not sure what to think of this product. It sounds wonderful but I'm not sure that its ability to transfer heat is adequate. ...read more
