Eagle Cast Steel Crankshafts

Eagle cast steel crankshafts are the most dependable option when you don't want to break the bank. Each crank is inspected for dimension, size, and stroke accuracy. For improved efficiency and reliability, they have a journal finish of 6 R.A. or less and a target bob weight of +/- 2 percent for easy balancing. The crankshaft is the heart of your engine, so demand the best—order the Eagle Specialty model and performance options recommended for your vehicle year, make, and engine application.

Q:

Does this crank shaft have to be balanced before installing? And does it accept standard rod and main bearings?

Asked by PHILLIP on 10/6/2017

Thank you for your question. Eagle 103503480 has a bobweight of 1855 bobweight. Due to the wide variety of rod and piston weights, you will need to have the crank balanced to them.

No sir you shouldn't have to balance it eagle makes great quality crankshafts.. but if it makes you feel more confident about your build you should have it checked and If you ordered the same one I did for a 350 it will accept standard rod and main bearings.

Disregard anyone who says it isn't necessary to balance prior to installation. Just because they got away with it doesn't make it right.

Crankshaft is internally balanced and does not require additional balancing. If your engine will see high RPM usage, you can have the entire rotating assembly balanced (machine shop will need crank, pistons, rods, flexplate or flywheel, and the balancer to do this). This special balancing is not necessary if you keep it below 6000 RPM. Yes, uses STD size bearings. Always verify your specific bearing clearances with green plastigauge. Hope this helps!

Used this crank on my 305 rebuild for my 84 Z28 Camaro. No modification needed it fits great with stock engine block and pistons. Currently 2,000 miles on rebuild and I have no complaints this crank will last forever. Definitely worth every penny.
