Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Will these heads work on a 1996 351 Windsor?
I am planning on running these heads, Edelbrock intake manifold, and a voodoo cam, will I need to up grade fuel injectors?

Asked by COLE on February 14, 2018

A:

You are planning on using these E-Street Cylinder Heads for a 1996 Ford EFI? Edelbrock will not condone this, as there is no exhaust heat crossover in the E-Street Cylinder Heads, to provide exhaust heat for your emissions to function properly, and the EGR. You should purchase the direct replacement cylinder heads # 60379, which will be a better choice and be a direct bolt-on cylinder head.

Q:

Will a stock ford truck intake manifold work with these these cylinder heads?

Asked by JOHN on September 27, 2017

A:

Yes it will, however it does not have the exhaust heat crossover, or any provision for EGR, for your emissions, and intake manifold to perform properly

Q:

I'm installing these heads on a 1975 302 with mild cam and 1.6 rocker arms. What length pushrods should I be using?

Asked by DOUGLAS on September 09, 2017

A:

I am currently installing these heads on a 302 crate engine, the info from summit was to install the heads first and then measure the length of push rods. I will be ordering the stronger heavy duty push rods they offer when I know the length

Edelbrock push rod kit # 9632 will be the correct ones and the length is 6.800" OAL

Nice!

I bought these to replace the D80E heads on my 351W in my truck. When I received them I took them all apart to check the valve to guide fitment and make sure nothing was broken or anything odd. The valves fit great, no play, but when oiled they all slid in very easily. They did not come with much lube on the valves at all. They have positive sealing valve stem seals installed. All of the threads in the heads started and threaded much smoother than my OE Ford heads ever did. The deck surfaces were perfectly straight when I checked them with a precision straight edge. Everything bolted right up just like the OE heads did. The only thing I could see that Edelbrock did a poor job on is the rocker studs were all inconsistently torqued. Some were super tight, some were somewhat tight. But, no big deal. So far the engine runs great, way more power than the original setup. The intake ports were a perfect match for a Felpro 1250S3 gasket. The intake and exhaust ports look very clean inside. So far, very happy! Also, it says these heads require hardened push rods. If you use self aligning rocker arms, remove the guide plates and you can use your regular push rods no problem. ...read more

Great Product at a Great Price

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EDL-5023
After discovering a cracked head on my 289, I decided to take the dive and buy these E-street heads versus wasting money on the stock ones. Like most people, I was looking for an affordable aluminum head since this car is a weekend cruiser. The casting looks very clean and all components are top notch. My 289 was originally equipped with “railed” style rockers so I was required to buy hardened push rods and replacement “flat” or “non-railed” rockers to use with these heads since they have guide plates. These valve stems are too short to use “railed” rockers! Ensure you buy the correct supporting parts because using “railed” rockers can cause valve retainer interference which could lead to you dropping a valve. ...read more

Used these on a performance street 351w Build. Great quality and everything was ready to go right out of the box. The engine is making some serious street-able power now. I used Scorpion Rockers 1017 and ARP-154-3603 Head bolts. I would definitely use these for future builds again.

Nice heads but be careful

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EDL-5023
Fit and finish of these is great for an entry level aluminum head. Ports are chamfered but runners are very rough casting... but thats expected at this price point. Be advised, these will not work with stock configuration 351W intake manifolds having 16 bolts. These heads have 6 tapped holes per side for modern design 351W intakes or the standard 302 12 bolt manifolds. I learned the hard way on my '70 351W that was running an Offy 16 bolt aluminum intake but Summit customer service was great. ...read more

They give great performance, r a quality product

EDL-5023
I purchased these heads a few years ago. They are on a 1965 289cu.in. original two barrel engine w/mild cam Duration- 270°intake & exhaust, .485"lift on both intake and exhaust, I have a stock torque converter and this is the biggest cam that you can run with a stock converter before you absolutely need a higher stall speed. Not to get off the subject... these are quite a performance change with the larger valves over the stock heads and the weight that you save also helps put this car in the Low 13's and 103 miles an hour in a quarter mile. I'll be the first to admit that's not a real strong car but for a low compression engine it's not bad. I have another car that's got a stock 302 in it, a 1968 engine, with stock cast iron heads, stock valves, stock valve train, that is stock springs, stock rocker arms, etc. Dual exhaust, an Edelbrock Performer manifold and a Holley Street Avenger 570 CFM 4 barrel carburetor, and a 3.80 posi differential gear Just in comparing the two cars and the way they perform the 302 goes 15.5 seconds in the quarter mile, somewhere in the mid 80's miles per hour. The Edelbrock heads really do work very well. I'm considering buying a set for the 302 also. They are that good. Excellent for a street-strip setup. ...read more
