Edelbrock AVS2 Series carburetors are the next generation of carburetors. Featuring annular flow primary boosters, adjustable secondary air valves, and a new calibration, these AVS2 carburetors offer improved idle and cruising performance. The annular flow booster design delivers improved fuel atomization to eliminate flat spots that may be encountered when the carburetor transitions from idle to full throttle. Each annular booster features eight, equally spaced orifices to improve fuel metering. The improved flow metering makes this carburetor ideal for use with a wide variety of small-block and big-block engines with either dual- or single-plane intake manifolds.

Q:

I have a 383 stroker, 11:1 CP, rollerized cam, single plain Torker intake, 700R4 trans and have borrowed a 1411 - 750 CFM carb. I am looking to buy a new carb will this 650 CFM carb work or should I stick with the 1411?

Asked by TOM on March 27, 2018

A:

The 1411 will perform and work well, if you honestly have everything you say, and if you are making over 400 HP, Edelbrock suggests their AVS Thunder Series 800 cfm carburetor 1812 manual choke, or 1813 electric choke.

Q:

I just got my 1906 and I'm checking the function out of the box. When I try move the throttle linkage, the secondaries are prevented from opening by the electric choke. I have to pull the choke all the way back in order to get the primaries and secondaries to open freely. Is this normal?

Asked by DYLAN on March 04, 2018

A:

Yes it is normal. Choke linkage will prevent the secondaries from opening until it is warm enough (choke spring),to pull linkage from its secondary lock out position.

Q:

Hello. I recently bought this carb and it runs great, right out the box. Only thing i did was set the idle mixture with a vacuum gauge. Now the problem: when the engine is runnig it's idles at 750 rpm and real smoothly, if i turn it of for 5 seconds and start it up again its barely running at 600 rpm and stalls when i put in drive. Dosen't matter if i rew it up or hold 1500 rpm for a minute, it still idles at 600 rpm barley. If i go for a drive about 3 miles at 50 mph and stops the car ,it's runnig smoothly at 750 rpm again. The carburetor is not flooding, already checked that. Any ideas to cure my problems?

/Thomas

Asked by THOMAS on May 01, 2018

A:

Check for vacuum leaks, and or vacuum hose connections, what is the 1906 bolted to? correct gasket being used, your distributor vacuum advance, or your advance weights in your distributor are not returning back to base, feel free to call Edelbrock Toll Free 800-416-8628 for further assistance...

Excellent Carb, Great Product1

Running this carb on my Pontiac 461 stroker with an Edelbrock Performer manifold, Edelbrock aluminum heads, and an Edelbrock RPM cam, dual 2.5 inch exhaust with an X pipe, 200R4 trans, 3.30 posi rear end. Works well, very tunable, adjustments are easy to make. You might think 650 CFM is too small for a 461 cubic inch motor, but the response is very snappy, AFRs are right in line throughout the RPM range. I've had many Edelbrock carbs over the years, this one is outstanding. ...read more

New Carb

EDL-1906
I installed the new carburetor it looks great and I liked the changes they have made to it but after getting it installed and tuned it seem to run differently each time I have drove it. I had a edelbrock performer 1406 on the engine and it ran good just a little rich but this one is not performing as I expected it to.

Great carb

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I installed this carb and the Performer eps intake on my ‘81 Corvette. When I did the first start up it sat there and idled at 800 rpm pulling 20” of vacuum with no adjustments. Very smooth idle and acceleration plus additional power.

Worked great right out of the box

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EDL-1906
I installed this on a customers 383 Road Runner 4 speed car. It idled great, started right up, electric choke worked great. It had good low end response with no flat spot with exceleration. It pulled good through the gears and the secondaries came in smooth. I was very pleased with the performance. The only issue I had was it smelled like gas after your shut the car off and you had to crack the throttle halfway to get it to start hot. It may be dripping some gas after shut off. I did not have time to investigate further as the customer wanted the car back. It has a stock fuel pump so I don’t think it has too much fuel pressure. Otherwise, I would give given it 5 stars. Overall happy with it. ...read more

Edelbrock AVS 2 carberator

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

EDL-1906
I would definitely recommend the AVS2. It sits on a GM 350 crate motor and has improved throttle response, ideal, and overall performance. Easy to tune the DVD was helpful as a refresher for installation along with the installation instructions. Great carberator closest thing to fuel injection that you get out of a carberator.
