DEI titanium exhaust wrap with LR technology is constructed from pulverized lava rock, extruded into fibers, and then woven into a tight weave, giving it titanium-like strength and toughness. The improvement in thermal protection helps to reduce underhood temperatures, resulting in cooler air intake for improved performance. And less heat in the engine bay means less chance of heat soak conditions on vital underhood components. Typical glass fiber wrap is rated at handling 1,200 degrees F of maximum direct heat, while DEI's titanium wrap, using LR technology, is capable of handling direct continuous heat up to 1,800 degrees F and radiant heat up to 2,800 degrees F. And because it's pliable, there's no need to wet the wrap when wrapping headers or pipes, as many do in order to make the wrapping process easier to manage and to get a tight wrap. Titanium wrap will not shrink, and because of its material structure, it is more resistant to temperature and vibration breakdown, abrasions, chemical and hot oil spills than glass fiber wrap. Plus, DEI's titanium wrap offers a very cool carbon fiber look as an added feature!

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

How much wrap should I need for a set of shorty block hugger style headers on a small block Chevy?

Asked by JOSEPH on December 04, 2016

A:

50 feet should do it,but then you don't want to cut yourself short either.I had 20 feet left over from a 100 foot roll on my long tube headers for my small block!

Q:

I have a 93 mustang with a 347 and I just ordered a on3 performance turbo kit for it and want to wrap the headers, cross pipe and exhaust pipe down to the bottom of the firewall just before under the car so all the hot side of the turbo kit. How much of this header wrap will I need to accomplish this and how many ties?

Asked by JEFFREY on February 23, 2017

A:

100ft was enough for the Y-pipe, merge, and up to the resonator in the stock cat position on my 87 Camaro. It's a different car, but 100 ft got me a long ways. I used a 75 ft kit for my shorty headers on the small block.
Longtubes- 200ft for everything. I would get 3 cans of the black and 3 of the clear. That does not cover too well, but IMHO it makes the wrap.

Q:

Looking to wrap a set of full length Heddman 68196 headers. They have 1 3/4" primary tubes. I'd like to wrap both headers all the way to the collectors. Thoughts on how much will be required? I was thinking 50' per header and was going to buy this 100' roll.

Asked by Customer on March 02, 2019

A:

Yes you will need at least 70ft.

Q:

I'm using Sanderson Lime-fire headers on my rod. How much of the 2 inch wide wrap will I need for both headers? Complete coverage.

Asked by JOHN on June 28, 2016

A:

Thank you for your question. In order for us to tell you how much you would need you will have to let us know what engine these are being used on. Normally two 50 ft. rolls is more than enough but depending if it is a big or small block and what size primary tubes, the amount you will need to use will vary.

THIS IS MY EXPERIENCE AND I AM NOT PLEASED AT ALL WITH THIS PRODUCT , I purchased this supposed top of the line lava based overhyped product from DEI , It Does NOT LAST more that a few miles before it dries up and frays and crumbles apart, I installed this lava based product on a set of new 440 dodge fenderwell headers that have 2 inch tubes that are 48 inches long which required alot of this product to cover them .in which I spent alot of money on this product . I followed their installation instructions EXACTLY to the letter , I did not want to do this twice . after i installed this wrap it looked great and was keeping my engine bay nice and cool, i was very pleased until about 500-600 miles i noticed it started fraying and crumbling off of my headers, looked like chucks of hair falling off , I was livid , I just spent alot of my time and hard earned money going the extra mile to keep this from happening and it did anyway , shame on you DEI for promoting this product for something it is not . all of my friends and people I know have witnessed this problem .I feel I have been taken advantage of and I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED .as a result I will NEVER buy another DEI product. On the PLUS side Summit Racing service is exceptional as usual. ...read more

Order an extra roll just incase but 100 ft was sufficient to wrap my headers and downpipe. easy to use and not as messy as others. Love it.

This heat wrap was easy to install around my headers and looks great. Have used it before and was just redoing a few areas that have been worn out over the last 5 years the rest still looks good just lost its new shine, but works well.

I liked this stuff so much I did more than I expected to do. Very easy to work with and following the manufacturers video on installation tips it turns out GREAT! Much nicer than the other version that really should be applied wet. You can do it without but the results suffer. Looks great to boot! It does fray much easier than the wet one but I found placing a short strip of duct tape on each cut end while working with it easily solves the issue. Just remember to remove it. ...read more
