Dakota Digital GPS speed sensor and interface modules are built for the custom automotive market. The highly advanced electronic and software design allows them to work unlike anything else, with accelerometers and predictive software to compensate for the times when GPS inherently struggles: overpasses, mountains, tunnels, heavy tree cover, large buildings, passing large vehicles, etc.

Their unique electronic architecture provides for negligible current usage when off, and yet they offer lightning fast start-up and signal acquisition. Updating the speed information 10 times per second offers tremendous accuracy, while their integrated omnidirectional antenna provides for installation flexibility and simplicity. These modules do such a tremendous job of rendering the correct speed information, they can be used to feed an aftermarket cruise control system—and used in conjunction with a Dakota Digital VFD3 or VHX instrument system.

A single data connection cable adds accurate speed information, compass positioning, altimeter data, and automatic clock syncing, all with fully automatic calibration. You'll have no DIP switches, no guessing, and no inaccuracies, period! The modules are also fully compatible with other electronic speedometers on the market. Offering a user-selectable output of 4k, 8k, or 16k PPM signals and a selectable signal type of a Sine Wave or Square Wave, the flexibility is endless!

Does this unit replace the speedometer cable sensor or is it used in conjunction with the speedometer cable sensor?

Thank you for the question Brian, the GPS is a speed sensor in itself and will eliminate the need for a speed signal. It is only for electronic speedometers however. It doe not work inline with a speedo cable.

What do I use to plug the transmission when I remove the cable?

Thank you for the question Daniel, I guess it would depend on the transmission. But a transmission shop should have a solution. In most cases, the transmission is sealed before the speedo gear so no fluid would leak regardless.

Does this plug into the existing factory connection on my speedometer?

Hello Ernest,
The GPS-50-2 is not designed to plug directly into an aftermarket or OEM speedometer. Rather, this includes a terminal strip which accepts a wire, then routed to the speedometer.
