COMP Cams engine break-in oil is designed for engine builders and performance hobbyists who want that added extra protection in order to maintain engine safety and performance. The engineers at COMP Cams and Endure Performance Lubricants have been working hand-in-hand to develop a full line of automotive lubricants, the first being the ZDDP-enhanced engine break-in oil that provides maximum protection during initial engine break-in. COMP Cams engine break-in oil has been heavily tested and proven by COMP Cams R&D team. This advanced lubricant provides maximum engine life, while also allowing the engine to reach its full performance potential. It does so by improving the surface mating of valvetrain components, rotating assemblies, rod journals, piston rings, valve guides, and other vital areas of the engine. COMP Cams engine break-in oil's proprietary formula includes the optimum amount of critical additives like ZDDP (zinc and phosphorus), molybdenum, detergents, and high-grade base oil. The multi-viscosity, mineral-based COMP Cams engine break-in oil is fully formulated and requires no additives or supplements. It protects all internal engine components, including flat tappet and roller valvetrains, and is mineral-based and fully compatible with gasoline, methanol, and high-octane race fuels.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question

How long is a normal break-in? How long do I run this oil?

Asked by JEFFREY on January 09, 2018

I would recommend changing this oil around 700 to 1000 miles

I wonder why they only recommended 1 at. I bought a cam kit. I thought I was buying an additive to add to my oil not a quart of oil. I guess I will have to buy different oil and a good additive to break my cam in.

Asked by WILLIE on November 13, 2018

I understand that I need 4 more quarts. I just do not know why she recommended just the 1 quart. I will go to an engine builder and get more so I don't have to wait to put it together. Thanks for answering.

Does this oil have an API rating? Could this be used as a regular oil in a vehicle without a cat. converter?

Asked by THOMAS on November 22, 2018

This oil is for mating the litter to the cam lobe surfaces. It has extra zinc added into it to prevent damage during "break in". I don't think this would be good for your application. You need standard engine oil

Can I use this oil in a Ford 302ci roller engine with hydraulic roller lifters? Or would standard 10W30 be better?
