Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

Would this cam be good on a 350 with stock heads, air-gap intake, headers, and a 650 Edelbrock carb?

Asked by ABDULLAH on August 09, 2017

A:

It would work good, but depends on the heads. If they're stock vortec heads you'd need to get gone machined. Stock heads would really restrict the RPM range of the cam. I went with Brodix 180cc heads

Q:

Would this work alright if I had a TH350 with a 4500RPM stall converter?

Asked by ALLEN on February 11, 2019

A:

Way too much converter for this cam, longer duration, looser converter. This cam is a good 2000-3000 stall cam.

Q:

Would I be able to use the cam in a daily driver?

Asked by DOMINICK on February 07, 2018

A:

I called comp cams I told them I wanted the biggest cam I could put in my mild built 350 without loosing my power brakes. This is the cam they recommended. I bought it from summit installed cam I probly put around 500 miles on it since last summer . It sounds great I have have several people tell me it sounds great & one of the healthiest 350 they ever heard! Makes you feel good. For a everyday driver I would have to day yes.

Runs/works great in my 327

CCA-12-246-3
Pulls 16" vacuum at idle. Running 1.94 double hump heads, running Comp Cams 981-16 springs, stock 300hp cast iron intake, 500cfm 1404 Edelbrock carb. 3:55 rear gears with Muncie 4 speed. No valve train noise whatsoever. Nice lumpy idle. Great low end and mid range torque. Have run it for 12 years now with no issues whatsoever, never have had to re-adjust valves in all that time. Awesome cam for my application. ...read more

This cam is the one. My 383 stroker loves the low end power and it still eats at over 6000rpm.

Great Dual Pattern Cam

CCA-12-246-3
Best overall power in a hot 350. Must have at least 2000 stall and low rear gears. This cam pumps up compression and helps lower 8-9 compression engines to make power. This cam makes noise and is not quite at all. I stopped break in after 2 minutes because I thought something broke and called summit tech who stated that it was normal for this cam to be noisy since the fast ramps slam shut the valves. This is the biggest dual pattern profile flat tappet cam for a hot 350 build or 383 stroker. This cam is quite on exhaust though for those not wanting loud exhaust. I heard the radical ramp speed can wipe a lobe fast if not properly lubed with ZDDP, so use Comp Cam Break In Oil at all times, but if so even 5 of these cams are cheaper then a hydraulic roller cam kit. ...read more
