Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question

Will this gauge work in a 2000 Kenworth W900L Semi? Plug and play? Thanks

Asked by ANDRE on July 30, 2017

Thanks for your question. The ATM-4337 water temperature gauge includes a proprietary 1/8 NPT temperature sensor which must be installed into an appropriate coolant port on the engine. This helps us constrain tolerances, accuracy, and resolution of the instrument. It is not a plug and play solution with the existing Kenworth sensor. To aid with installation in the majority of aftermarket automotive applications for which it is designed, we additionally include 3/8 and 1/2 NPT adapter bushings and offer some metric variations for sale separately as well. I'm unfortunately not entirely familiar with the engine utilized in the W900L in terms of port sizes and coolant system port locations and threads, but would suggest giving our toll free tech line a call at 866-248-6357 to see if we can help you find a bit more information. The wiring is one step more difficult than putting in a voltmeter with 5 total connections (power for gauge, ground for gauge, signal from sensor, power for light and ground for light). From what I see the cooling system runs a cap that's rated for 15 psi which is well within rated tolerances for the sensor and the pipe thread sealing capabilities so I am unfortunately not entirely certain to what specifically the community answer might be referring.

Is there a 6 volt positive ground electric temperature gage available?

Asked by AARON on October 02, 2017

Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we do not manufacture any electrical instruments for 6V positive ground systems. If the advantages offered by a 12V conversion of the electrical system is out of the question due to a requirement for maintaining vehicle originality, I would strongly suggest considering a mechanical water temperature gauge for monitoring your application as its operation would be completely unaffected by the vehicle electrics. If you wish to maintain something within the Ultra-Lite design, consider model ATM-4332. If you are seeking something a bit more era appropriate for a 6V equipped vehicle, you may wish to consider ATM-1733 or ATM-2432. For additional assistance locating further AutoMeter mechanical water temperature gauges for your application, please contact your Summit Racing sales rep.

Answer This Question

I am using a Holley Terminator Efi kit on my engine. It comes with a 2 wire coolant temp sensor. Is the Holley temp sensor compatible with this Gauge? Maybe splice the wires coming off the temp sensor to feed the temp gauge?

Asked by BRAD on February 26, 2017

Thank you for your question. Auto Meter 4337 Ultra-Lite Analog Gauge comes with a one wire sending unit. You will want to find a place to mount the sending unit for this gauge, the Holley temperature sensor is most likely not compatible with this gauge. Splicing the temperature sensor wires from the Holley kit may have an adverse effect on the Holley EFI kit.

Answer This Question

How about the sending unit for this Temperature gauge (4337)? Can you supply the part number that matches up? Working with a 1978 Jeep CJ5, 304 AMC.

Asked by on March 03, 2016

Thanks for your question. This includes the sending unit, however if you need another or are replacing one for an existing gauge, we sell the sender separately under part number ATM-2258.
