Additional Information

Because of frictional inconsistencies with oil, moly, and other lubricants it takes multiple cycles of torquing the bolt, loosening it, and tightening it again to obtain the required preload or stretch. Typically, when a fastener is first tightened, friction is at its highest point and the preload value or stretch is low. As the fastener is cycled numerous times the friction decreases and the preload increases. This phenomenon is called "preload scatter." With ARP Ultra Torque assembly lubricant, a fastener need only be torqued once to get within 5 percent of ideal preload, and it remains consistent through all subsequent cycles (from race-prep machining through final assembly). Moreover, given the inconsistencies of ordinary lubes, it is quite possible for adjacent head bolts or studs to have vastly different preloads. This scatter causes bore distortion, hampers piston ring seal, and leads to poor head gasket sealing.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

The description says it’s for engine assembly as well. Is that true??

Asked by CAMERON on March 30, 2018

A:

Thank you for your question. ARP Ultra Torque lube is really designed for fastener use to achieve the correct fastener pre-load. Royal Purple Max Tuff is a great engine assembly lube which you can find as part number RPO-01335.

Q:

On a Chevy Head Do you apply the torque lube under the head bolt and before you get to the threads and also to the other internal parts like the main bolts and rod bolts. Thank you

Asked by RANDY on January 22, 2018

A:

Randy, thank you for your question. If the head bolts enter a water jacket, ARP Thread Sealer 100-9904 should be applied to the bolt threads. Apply ARP Ultra-Torque to the underside of the bolt head between the bolt head and washer. ARP Ultra-Torque should be used on main bolts and rod bolts. Please follow the installation instruction provided in each kit.

Q:

What parts can you use the Torque lube assembly, cause from a previous question you can’t use it on Heads.

Asked by RANDY on January 21, 2018

A:

Randy, ARP Ultra-Torque can be used on head bolts/studs as long as the bolt hole does not enter a water jacket. We recommend using ARP Thread Sealer for these applications.

Answer This Question

Q:

Will this product seal the head bolts on a big block Chevy ?

Asked by BRUCE on May 24, 2016

A:

Thank you for your question. ARP 100-9910 is not able to be used as a thread sealer. It is meant to be applied to the under head of the bolt and washer to prevent from having to stretch the bolts for proper torque. ARP 100-9904 would be the correct thread sealer to seal the threads of the head bolts. Please copy the link below into your internet browser to view it.

Hate using the little packets ARP only provides some of the time when you buy their bolts? ARP Ultra Torque Assembly Lubricant to the rescue! Its cleaner than using the ketchup-style packets of assembly lube AND you get a whole freakin bottle of it to use OR waste, depending on your preference.

ARP staff shoved an application brush inside container that was 1" deeper than the container, so when one pulls out the application brush it is damaged and when one tries to screw it back in the jar it wont screw back on, slopy to say the least, would not expeect that from ARP.
