Jason Line made it to the semifinal round at the Magic Dry Organic Absorbent NHRA Arizona Nationals in Chandler, Arizona.
In Round One of eliminations, Line beat Deric Kramer with a 6.649 second/186.28 MPH pass to Kramer’s tire-shaking 30.055/23.82.
In Round Two, Line faced Cristian Cuadra. Line took the win, 6.581/210.01 to Cuadra’s 14.134/51.15.
In the semifinals against Erica Enders, Line had another strong pass, but Enders got the win, 6.555/210.28 to Line’s 6.582/209.33.
“It wasn’t quite our day today,” said Line. “But a final round in Pomona, and then the semifinals here hopefully means we’re building momentum. It’s early, but we feel like we aren’t too far off the mark with my car.”
Greg Anderson’s weekend was cut short in Round One of eliminations when he experienced tire shake, giving Chris McGaha the win 6.583/209 to 15.609/67.56.
“It was a disappointing weekend, but we don’t have time to hang our heads,” said Anderson. “We have work to do, but that’s something KB Racing is good at. We rise to the challenge.”
Tim Wilkerson, driver of the Levi, Ray and Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, picked up a pair of bonus points in the final round of qualifying with the second-fastest pass of the round (3.889/329.10).
In Round One of eliminations, Wilkerson faced recently returned Alexis DeJoria. Wilk got the win with a 3.979/286.25 pass to DeJoria’s 6.045/111.71.
In Round Two against John Force, Wilkerson was a little too quick at the tree, tripping the red light, negating his 3.887/329.91 pass and giving Force the win 3.894/332.43.
“Our car is doing what we’re asking of it, so I’m really optimistic for the rest of the season,” said Wilkerson. “We’re looking forward to Gainesville.”
