Doug's Headers has long been recognized of as one of the premiere exhaust header manufacturers in the performance industry. Since1958, they have been producing high-quality, hand-built, mandrel-bent exhaust headers. Each and every header is tuned with the proper tube size and length to efficiently remove all of the exhaust from each cylinder, reducing pumping losses, and resulting in dramatic increases in horsepower and torque. Doug's headers are carefully developed on the vehicles that they are intended to fit and are re-checked numerous times during the design and manufacturing process. Their designs include mid-length headers, Tri-Y headers, and long tube headers, plus manifold replacement headers.

Their headers come with all the necessary mounting hardware, collector reducers or connector pipes, premium extra-thick gaskets, and detailed installation instruction sheets. The gaskets are rated up to 1100 degrees F, pressures to 3700 psig (255 bar), and are designed for an exact port match with their headers.

Doug's Headers offer a choice of finishes:

* Metallic Ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (MCTBC), which is polished with a vibratory finishing process that not only produces a high-luster aluminum appearance, but also compresses and activates the coating, which increases the surface hardness. The finish is 60 percent more corrosion resistant than an unpolished surface, easy to maintain, and will last for years under normal operation conditions. MCTBC also protects and extends the life of headers by creating a thermal barrier that significantly lowers under hood temperatures and protects the substrate metal from thermal fatigue.
* Hi-Temp black coating is an affordably priced alternative to their MCTBC. This finish provides good corrosion and heat protection when compared to many of the "cheaper" header finishes being applied by our competitors.
* Raw steel is available for individual customizing

Unless otherwise noted, these headers are designed to fit the vehicle as it came from the manufacturer. This includes components like cylinder heads, chassis, steering, motor mounts, body mounts and bushings, etc. If your vehicle is using aftermarket components, parts from other applications, or custom altered parts, then it is the installer's responsibility to verify fitment.

Questions & Answers Ask a Product Question
Q:

My current build is a 1968 Nova original 327 bucket seat 4-speed car. Just trying to find the best fit for quality headers. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Mike

Asked by MICHAEL on May 02, 2018

A:

I tried to put these in my 1971 nova with a 383 Stroker and TH350 trans, stock trans crossmember. They hit the floorboard and do not clear the crossmember... about an inch to high. I had to bend them down considerably on the drivers side. The passenger side was wven worse.

Installed on a 67 Camaro. SBC 350, power steering, power brakes and an automatic 700R4 trans. No problems with clearance, great fit, looks good. Take out your plugs and install from underneath. Nice quality with a thick flange.

Spark plug clearance issues

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

DOU-D308
I have a 1968 Camaro, Dart small block with Brodix Track One heads (angled plugs). 700 R4 trans, stock power steering with a Detroit Speed Inc. Speed Kit 1 front suspension upgrade. The headers look phenomenal and are beefy. Gotta go from bottom on driver side to get in. I had spark plugs in on passenger side (even cylinders) when I installed, not on driver side (odd cylinders). The #2 cylinder tube runs along all the way back just below the #4,6,8 spark plugs. With plug boot, have about 1/8" clearance from hitting tube. YIKES!! Had to remove driver side after install to put #3,5,7 plugs in. Gonna have clearance issues on #3,7 plug boots as well and #5 wire rests against tube whether going inside or outside while going to plug. It's a shame, gonna have to use tape to protect almost every plug wire when these headers look beautiful. ...read more

Great fit with no issues at all. Remove clutch Rod to install. If you have original clutch rod there is a minor modification. Read instructions before installing concerning the mods. Passenger side installed from top drivers from bottom. Use shorty plugs and the fit is even better. #5 plug is a bit difficult to install. Installed plug from underneath. Customer service and deliver was great. ...read more

Doug's Headers D308 - 1972 Chevelle (GM A Body)

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

DOU-D308
I have used Dougs Headders for years they always have good fit and finish and this set is worthy of the Doug's Name. I ordered these as replacement long tube to my current mid tube Dougs used on a 1972 Chevelle SS (GM A Body) we transplanted a 5.7 Gen II 1995 LT1 Corvette engine. The Gen II has D port heads and the Dougs D308 has Oval Port configuration for the Gen I Small Block, so they work fine covering the D port configuration completely. We needed to install the O2 sensors for the LT1 and the D308 Long tube allows enough real estate to easily install the bungs in the correct orientation. As expected the Long tube headers require a little help when installing on the drivers side. We had to remove the motor mount bolt and raise the engine about 3" inches for clearance. But once the header was in place we lowered the engine and the clearance was fine. We recommend using the Remflex 2075 Oval Port Gasket Set, they are installed dry and we have yet to have a leak. The under carriage fits nicely on the Dougs 308, while they are noticeable when looking under the car, they are still high enough not to drag or hang on those pesky speed bumps at stock height. But, as with all aftermarket parts you need to measure for your application. (If you are 1/2 an inch off the ground lowrider you may have issues.) ...read more
