Q Collegiate Power Challenge Rules
In the Hot Rod Magazine Q Collegiate Challenge, each team is given a Factory Five rolling chassis, Ford Racing crate motor, and $10,000 shopping spree at Summit Racing Equipment. Each team is also allocated up to $2,500 to acquire a donor Mustang to use for essential, non-performance parts. Rules for the contest are outlined below:

The Car (Bodies and Chassis)
A. Each team is supplied with a Factory Five "Challenge Series Racer" chassis and body kit
B. Modifying the chassis or roll cage is not allowed
C. Modifying the suspension geometry is not allowed
D. Teams may relocate the engine mounting position up to two inches back and/or one inch down from its original position
E. Cars must be equipped with a Factory Five supplied aluminum racing seat
F. Cars must have a rear-mounted remote kill switch, driveshaft loop, and SCCA-approved fire suppression system
G. Manual or automatic transmissions are acceptable-SFI approved flywheels, flexplates, and bellhousings required
H. Cars must have DOT-approved tires
I. Donor car must be 1988 to 1995 model year Mustang-cars equipped with aftermarket performance parts must get special approval

The Engine
A. Each team gets a Ford Racing 302 cubic inch crate motor-FMS-M6007-F50
B. No block or cylinder machined allowed-hand porting of heads is acceptable
C. Replacement of internal components is acceptable
D. Valve covers must be from Ford Racing
E. Teams must use the supplied Ford Racing oil filter
F. All camshaft and valvetrain components must be from Comp Cams
G. Power adders such as nitrous, turbos, and blowers are acceptable

The Parts
A. Each team gets a $10,000 credit line from Summit Racing Equipment
B. All parts must be ordered from Summit Racing Equipment, including the Ford Racing and Comp Cams products
C. Donated parts from non-program sources are not allowed
D. Each team will be paired up with a Summit Racing Equipment Technical Department advisor, who will answer questions and take parts orders
E. Only the assigned UTI Team Leader is authorized to order parts
F. In-stock parts will be shipped the same day
G. Summit Racing Equipment can special order parts from existing suppliers
H. Current Summit Racing Equipment prices apply-special offers available to the public at the time of the orders are valid

The Lubricants and Fuel
A. Each team will be supplied with all necessary engine, transmission, and differential lubricants from Quaker State
B. Only Shell V-Power 91 Octane gasoline may be used

The Competition
A. Team vehicles will be judged in eight different categories (link included)
B. The Performance portion of the judging will take place February 6, 2006, at Houston Raceway Park
C. Each car will undergo a tech inspection before competition
D. A professional  test driver will drive and evaluate each car
E. All necessary jacks, air tanks, and tools will be available for each team at the track
F. A winner will be declared once each team is evaluated in the eight categories
