The first step in any successful project is beginning with a good foundation-and your vehicle's audio system is no different. Most people begin stereo build-ups by installing a new head unit, followed by some better speakers, and maybe an amp. Sounds about right, doesn't it? Wrong! The best way to improve your sound quality is through reducing noise levels and interior resonance. And the best way to do that is with Dynamat.
What is Dynamat? It is a thin, flexible, easy-to-cut sheet of dampening material that converts road noise, engine rumbling, speaker rattle, and buzzing into silent energy.
Installation is easy, too! All you need is a razor knife or scissors, a heat gun, roller tool, rags, cleaner, and some basic hand tools to disassemble your interior.
1. Using a razor knife or scissors, cut the Dynamat sheet to the desired shape and size.
2. Next, use the heat gun to warm the material while removing the blue liner from the back of it.
3. Apply the Dynamat to the prepared surface and use a roller tool to work the mat into all contours of the panel.
4. Use the razor knife and poke holes into any air pockets that may have formed between the panel and the Dynamat.
5. Finally, work the air out the pockets with the roller tool to ensure long-lasting adhesion to the panel.
Taking the time to prepare your vehicle with Dynamat before adding a new audio system will reward you with greater clarity, improved loudness, and more effective bass. Remember, it's the right start to great sound.
