Thrush #89021 Exhaust system

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Just installed this exhaust system on my 73 Z28. I did not use all of the pipes, just the over axle pipes, muffler and tailpipes and the fit was perfect!! Instead of using the header to overaxle pipes from the kit, I purchased some aluminized tubing and had a local muffler shop bend them to fit from my headers to the overaxle pipes. With the muffler clamps included with the kit, it also saved a trip to the auto parts store. The sound quality is great and the performance has picked up from my old 2 1/4" system !! Thanks ...read more

Proper stock exhaust

A Proper transverse mounted muffler, dual exhaust system very close to stock. Need to spend at least twice the money to get anything marginally better. Good quality, excellent fit. Had to modify the hangers a bit but no biggie.

Perfect Solution for Camaros

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I had a lot of interior noise with my former exaust system. This exaust takes a little to install, but the results are worth it. Noise levels inside car are half what they were. fits perfect with a little cutting length to fit my headers. no rattles, no dragging on rough drive ways. I did have to get four pipe clamps and two heavy hangers for tail pipes. This system is well worth the price!! ...read more

The parts that showed up are great quality

The parts I got are great quality and fit, problem is the box showed up missing the two pipes that come from the headers to the intermediate pipe.Three weeks into this and still no response from the manufacturer and Summitt seems to be unable to fix this issue without a response from them.

Decent exhaust at a decent price

Fits ok under my 1969 Nova, but one of my complaints, are the head pipes do not have any type of bend in them to allow for the H pipe assembly to tuck close to the underbody. Therefore, the pipes tuck close to the floor pan in the rear, and hang lower than the drive shaft/transmission mating points, up front. A head pipe with a slight S curve upward, in addition to an angle, would solve this issue. Also the tail pipes protrude from beneath the rear quarter panel where they run horizontally under the trunk pan. You can see them hanging down in the rear. It doesn't appear that you can tuck them up out of sight. Consider cutting them off so that the tail pipes dump right behind the rear tires, like the factory did. Otherwise it is a nice exhaust system for not a lot of cash. The muffler provided is a turbo style muffler which you can look thru one end and see out the other, but it's just a short baffle placed within the entry tube on the muffler, thus not the best flowing muffler, but better than stock. One recommendation I have is the Dynomax Ultraflow muffler, p/n WLK-17553. It fits perfectly in place, and unlike the turbo muffler provided, the 17553 muffler has two perforated tubes, surrounded by fiberglass, that pretty much allow the exhaust to slide right on thru without any chance of going elsewhere. This is essentially like a straight pipe exhaust but much quieter. I've had good luck with Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers in the past, as they are one of the best flowing mufflers on the market. Of course if you like Flowmaster, they make an 80 series muffler, p/n FLO-42582 that will also fit in place of the turbo muffler. ...read more
