Clamps not tight enough

The exhaust was easy to install and the look and sound of it was what I was expecting. However, all 3 clamps seemed like they were a tad too big and didn't bite down as hard as you would expect. After tightening the clamp to the mid-pipe (without shearing the bolt off), I could still pull the muffler away for the mid-pipe. Same thing with the tips. After tightened those clamps, I managed to twist those off as well. With that being said, if there is a trick to using the clamps, with position, tightness, or otherwise, it would be great to add that to the instructions. ...read more

Bought this muffler because I wanted a quiet but deep sound on my 14 wrangler jk. Got the sound I wanted, but it was all scratched and dinged and dented up. It was over packed in protective paper in the box, but it looked like a blemished item sale. Also, I had to bend the hangers around to turn the exhaust exits up towards the bumper. I recommend welding the tips on because the provided look cheap. The muffler creates a drone in the cab between 1000-1300rpm with the doors and/or the roof off. it is a rattler fit is good looks good but you have to bend and move heat shield to stop rattles. It stops after you get it out of the way. The tips are ok but if it was my company I would remove the stainless tips and bevel the ends the cost would go down as well. For the price a good muffler.

Muffler easy to install, the clamps for the tips are too big, unable to get the tips tight. Both bolts broke, will probably use the old type of clamp on the tips. Some drone at 30 to 40 mph, but not bad. Nice sound at idle, at highway speeds very quiet.

Overall this is not a bad exhaust system. Much louder them OEM. Very easy to install. One of the clamps for the tips broke while trying to tighten. Summit replaced with no issues. But the directions for installing them could be better. The tips are very loose. You have to tighten the clamps to their limit/breaking point for them to be secure.
