If you want something better than your slow-flowing OEM muffler, the Thrush Turbos are just what you need. Backpressure is decreased 30 percent over stock, with a deep performance tone under acceleration that quiets down while cruising. For easy installation, the Turbos are reversible, and the inlet/outlet can be expanded to fit your stock pipes.
This was installed by a used car dealer prior to my purchase of the vehicle but, was installed within 30 of this. Sounded good and ran decent for about 2 years when it started to sound really bad and rusted to all heck.
For a nice and true muscle car sound that doesn't create a racket and upset (most) neighbors, these are the ticket.
Do it yourself'ers, pro and novice will find it easy to install these. Right onto the striaght pipe from the header and hang'em high, your done unless you add a tail pipe. (That'll cut down on loudness as well.)
I'll start by saying I cannot stand the "flowmaster sound" so welded chambered mufflers are out for me. Turbo mufflers offer about the same flow with a much mellower sound. If you run these with tail pipes the sound at idle is not harsh. They are louder than most OEM HP mufflers. Believe it or not, I've had people ask what mufflers I am running at car shows so that says something about these......read more
Put them on a 440 with stock manifolds and an h pipe, sounds pretty chunky at idle, which is what I was after. Has a great sound at all the way through the rpm band, drone was a 3 out of 5 at higher rates of speed, but that's to be expected. Liked the fact they could be used in either direction.
Mufflers came unbelievable fast with normal shipping (next day). The mufflers sound great, much better then my flow master 40's, has a great sound when I get on the gas but not as intrusive as the flow masters.
