decent balancer

I did a cam swap on a 79 Chevy truck with a mild 350. The balancer looks and feels great. It also has the marks at 90, 180 and 270 which helps if you "run the valves" during assembly one cylinder at a time. My main complaint was the slot that the crank key is supposed to fit in is very tight. It kept driving the key out of my crank. After comparing it to my old stock balancer the slot looked way too narrow. I don't think it is very narrow due to a high performance thing or to increase safety but I could be wrong. This is the only SFI approved balancer I have ever owned. I hand filed the slot a little larger and it went on just fine. I did not heat the balancer in an oven as some suggest that could possibly help but I am not sure. ...read more
