TUFF STUFF 7068 one wire alternator

Works well, minor fitment issues

Hooking up a 1-wire alternator is a cinch, so no need to review that! However this alternator has a circular bulge at the back of the case that contacts my LH head when fitted to a 390 FE engine. I was able to space it out a little with some shims, but only a small amount as they belt needed to run straight - result is a belt that's straight but there's a cigarette paper's worth of clearance to the head. Another solution might be to run a longer belt, which I will try, so that I can clock the alternator to the side of the head; there seems to be JUST about the right amount of adjustment in my mounts to achieve this. But now it is installed, charges great at over 14V idling once energised, and has allowed me to tidy up my engine bay wiring now that I don't need to use the voltage regulator. ...read more

installed on 76 ford f150 390.

bought it my 76 ford f150 w/390 fits fine on bottom bolt, but upper bracket is to short now. alt hits cyl head. had to make new bracket,alt rides farther to the rh side now,no big deal lots of room,alt at idle 14.5volts nice upgrade.

Works well and looks nice

I've had it on the car for several weeks now. It works as it is supposed to and looks nice doing it. Good value to get my project back up and running. The only negative: it didn't come with a nut for the power terminal stud on the back and I had to go fishing around in my spare hardware bins to find one to fit.
