Almost a good kit

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I replaced my oil pan and purchased this gasket to go with it. My only ding on it is that it does not include new longer bolts and does not include the installation standoffs that make installing a snap. The comparable Fel-Pro kit includes both which I ended up having to purchase for the bolts.

Excelent gasket

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Steel core makes this gasket a perfect fit. I would purchase it again the next time I build a late small block engine. Price is excellent.

Summit Racing Pan Gasket - Great Sealing Gasket

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

When installing from beneath the vehicle, this gasket can be a little awkward getting it in place, but its sealing advantages and sturdy inner core overcome this well. All the silicone gasket sealant required is two small dabs at the rear main corners and again at the front timing cover corners. I used this gasket on a Chevy 400 small block with a Cloyes billet timing cover and a steel oil pan. This gasket has the thicker front seal needed in this application. Be sure to order longer pan bolts as this gasket is much thicker than stock, making factory length bolts too short. I used Summit part number MOR-38550 pan bolts (Moroso) which have the needed added length. ...read more

Didn't leak until I put my foot in it

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

No leaks during break in, but once I could get on the peddle, I started getting leaks at either end. No leaks along the sides. It's possible I'm not getting enough pressure relief in the crankcase. And, I'm pretty sure I did not put any goop on the pan side of the gasket over the front and rear mains. Although being rubber it shouldn't really need any. Anywho, it leaks on what I think is a Mr Gasket chrome pan. Could be the pan. But I've used the pan before with standard gaskets on the same motor and it did not leak. YMMV ...read more
