Product has a nice hammered finish, easy instilation, only set back for install was spacers for lower trailing arms were not cut to exact lengths and had to be ground down to fit, good value

This only fits stock-type lower control arms!

I have aftermarket lower control arms on my car, and this sway bar doesn't fit with them. The aftermarket LCAs are designed to use a stock bar, which inserts into the middle of the arm. This bar bolts to the inside of the arm, and is at least an inch too narrow. If you have aftermarket LCAs, this is not the bar you're looking for.

It worked, but had problems...

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I appreciate that this sway bar was a good price and replaced my broken factory one, but installation was difficult and problematic. First off, just know that that this doesn't Replace the Ford one--it installs in a different area and has a different shape. The Ford one removed easily with four bolts that go into tinnerman clips. The Ford one installs down the inside of the rear control trailing arms, and goes up high, above the jug. To install a factory bar would be really quick. The Summit one, larger diameter, installs between the two control trailing arms and is much shorter, below the differential. I'm a little uneasy with the low position, but the install was the biggest problem. First, because it's between the trailing arms but in the same holes, it has 'spacers' that have to fit in the control arms. The instructions recommend you 'grind' the spacers to fit in the control arms. Mine were close, so I tapped them in, only to find that the screws provided weren't long enough. Maybe they would've been okay if I had ground them...but I doubt it. I had longer bolts, but most people probably don't. Then the inside nuts are to be placed over some very thick washers (necessary) that have too big of hole in them. I was concerned that the nut would half-way pull into the hole. So I added a second flat washer with a smaller hole. So my 'complaints' may be seen as nit-picking to some, but I'm an engineer myself and I was afraid that this wouldn't survive. This bar is a large diameter and is short, so it's probably much stiffer than the factory one, but I'm not sure how to tell if it's making my corners flatter. My factory bar had been broken for a while so I don't even remember what it's supposed to feel like. Note, this is a street-only daily driver car. ...read more
