right stuff vacuum pump

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

for those of you who can't get this pump to work reread the instructions. I had no problems at all. If you can't read the ones that came in the box, Summit has them in the overall review. straight forward installation. Be sure to get a good ground, scrape the body of the regulator and any metal your mounting it to,I added an extra ground wire from the regulator mounting bolt to any good ground. I would recommend soldering the little connector that goes to the regulator, after you crimp it. It starts and shuts off @ 23Hg like it should. I used hose clamps on all the hose connections, I have even installed a vacuum canister. Thanks to Winston, at the Tallmadge store. ...read more

Vacuum Pump kit for power brake booster.

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This one was all down hill for me. Instructions smudged, some references were items 1-2-3-4, next page they were a-b-c-d. No room under hood. Had to mount pump in trunk and buy enough hose and wire to go from trunk to under hood. When all installed, pump sounds like a nest of robins chirping in trunk. So, I'm back to what little engine vacuum I have. ...read more

Can't Make It Work

This pump was recommended over the CompCams pump, which is the same exact kit. The instructions were one page and were not very detailed but installation went OK. The pump seems works to fine but it runs almost continuously. Summit sent me an exchange and it does the exact same thing. Beware of this kit until Summit or Right Stuff figures out what's wrong with it. ...read more

Still trying to make it work

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This pump appears to work well. The problem I am having is that it will shut off than start again. I have checked and double checked the lines but none are leaking. May have to return it. Wiring is a bit dubious also.

RSD vacuum pump

I agree for the noise but can easily get much more quiet! I've just took a glass gaz filter and packed it with toilet paper... Hooked it up to the exhaust side with 3/8" vacuum hose....I don't hear it anymore unless the engine is not running.... I have to check to plumb it up in conjonction with the engine vacuum to give the system a break.... It run almost all the time but I got good brake. ...read more

Good pump for the money

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This is a nice little pump and pretty simple to install. Relatively quiet, especially when my car is on, load exhaust mutes most sounds so your experience may differ. Overall, good kit and quiet. Also, company support is very good and friendly. One thing to think about is to mount in a good sturdy location to reduce vibration and also tie down vacuum lines to avoid them slapping around and making noise. I would buy again if I needed it. ...read more

Noisy!

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

If you are looking to power your brake booster, this will do the job. Expect LOTS of vibration. The pump is quality, just noisy.

Right Stuff Detailing Vacuum Pump

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This is a great unit. It is exactly the same unit as the SSBC Vacuum Pump. Same casting numbers etc. all for $90.00 less. What's not to like about that? It's nice to have power brakes that work and still let me have my lumpy cam.

Works fine but the noise from vacuum release is annoying.

Vacuum pump

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I installed this pump on my 1972 Nova due to a lack of vacuum. It works great and gives me a good 23 inches of vacuum for my power brakes. The only draw back is that it's a little noisy but I understand this is normal. With the engine running it's not too noticeable. It solved my problem of not enough vacuum from the engine.
