Race Pumps fuel pumps operate on a principle similar to a master cylinder, but with an ingenious floating O-ring valve function that continually adjusts to the amount of fuel needed by the engine. This is how Race Pumps fuel pumps can be used on any engine from 200-2,500 hp. Race Pumps' variable-stroke piston actually pumps less or more fuel as needed. Because of this variable flow, it doesn't need a bypass-type regulator or return line like traditional constant-pressure pumps do. Race Pumps fuel pumps' higher efficiency and variable flow mean that they don't have to work as hard as other pumps and don't add heat to the fuel like conventional diaphragm pumps. Race Pumps fuel pumps also consume less horsepower. The fuel pumps for carbureted engines require only 25 lbs. of pushrod pressure, compared to 125 lbs. of pressure for diaphragm pumps.

You probably don't need the pressure and volume that Race Pumps fuel pumps can supply, but the extra capacity ensures that your engine will not stumble at the end of a straight because of fuel starvation. Regulators function more smoothly and consistently with the added pressure and flow. With a smoother supply of fuel, a Circle Track car will feel more predictable and pick up more smoothly out of the corners. The design also makes it easier to run fuel lines and the pump and fittings are less vulnerable in a crash. On top of all of that, Race Pumps fuel pumps just look cool!

Valveless, Variable Displacement, Reciprocating Piston Fuel Pump

Race Pumps fuel pumps have been under development for 18 years. This is the first really new mechanical fuel pump design engineered just for high performance V8 engines in more than 60 years. All others are adaptations of an old universal design with many inherent pushrod/linkage design flaws. This simpler piston design is much more smooth and reliable at higher revs. Race Pumps fuel pumps flow enough for 2,500 hp!

Race Pump Fuel Pumps
200 to 2,500 hp @ 25 lbs. pushrod force
7-15 psi with Race Pumps regulator, 50 psi unregulated
Weigh 1.1 lbs.

Conventional Edelbrock Pumps
125 lbs. pushrod force
Weigh 3.6 lbs.

* Reciprocating piston uses only 25 lbs. of pushrod force! The Edelbrock conventional diaphragm high performance pump requires 125 lbs.!
* Operate at a constant 4 to 15 psi with Race Pumps pressure regulators, 50 psi unregulated
* Absolutely no drop in fuel pressure throughout entire rpm range
* Gasoline, methanol, and E85 compatible
* Circle Track, drag racing, marine, and street use
* Ideal for blow-through turbo supercharger systems with our new Race Pumps boost-sensitive regulator
* Patent-pending variable displacement design accommodates 200-2,500 hp! Race Pumps fuel pumps flow only as much fuel as the engine requires.
" No diaphragm, valves, rocker arm, block plate, or gaskets
" Race Pumps fuel pumps should last for years, but can be damaged by junk in the fuel line. They are rebuildable.
* Smaller size means increased chassis clearance. This is important in oval racing because the Chevy's pump placement makes it a target when contact is made with the wall.
* Hard coated 6061-T6 billet aluminum with stainless steel internal parts
* -8 outlet and -8 and -10 AN fittings are included. Fitting positioning makes it easier to route fuel lines away from the exhaust.
* They weigh only 1.1 lbs. (Edelbrock weighs 3.6 lbs.), patent pending

Race Pumps Fuel Pumps for Electronic Fuel Injection

* 45-75 psi fuel pressure with Race Pumps regulator. 150 psi unregulated.
* Great for EFI conversions on older cars when block has provision for mechanical pump
* No return line or in-tank pump needed
* No fuel tank modifications
* No extra circuit or wiring needed for electric fuel injection fuel pump
* They maintain fuel pressure with the engine off for easier starting
