Factory rubber transmission mounts were never intended to take much abuse, so the resultant sloppiness in your drivetrain can be largely traced to them. These mounts are designed to control torque and eliminate breakage. Where applicable, they feature the polylocked "run-safe" interlocking device, so they won't leave you stranded like you a broken stock mount will.

The fit sucks

This mount is taller than the stock one for a 1998 Pontiac trans am with auto trans. When you put it on it pushes the trans up and adjusts the angle. This makes a vibration when you get on it pretty good. Wish I got the other brand one.

So after ripping apart two stock rubber trans mounts, I finally installed a Prothane transmission mount. These things are strong, several thousand miles of abuse and still look as good as new. I actually bought two thinking I would tear this one up too but I was wrong. So I took the extra one and ground it apart. There is no way these will pull apart, they are surrounded by interlocking steel with urethane in-between. Very impressed and no more worrying about trans mounts anymore! ...read more
