Chevrolet Performance timing chain sets are designed for use with either performance or stock cams. They have a solid-bushing chain for a true bearing surface that rolls with the sprockets, eliminating chain stretch. Crank gears are machined from stressproof steel. Most Chevrolet Performance timing chain sets have three keyways to ensure accurate timing for early or late-model vehicles, and to allow you to set cam timing 4 degrees advanced, 4 degrees retarded, or stock. However, 50-state (stock replacement) sets have single keyways. Chevrolet Performance timing chain sets are not for use above 6,500 rpm.

An excellent "one-part-number" solution

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Installed a Gen 6 "step-nose" hydraulic roller camshaft into a Mark IV block. This timing set included everything needed for the conversion except, of course, a fuel pump pushrod and distributor driven gear compatible with my steel (not iron) camshaft. The retainer plate provides about .0025 camshaft end-play. The timing chain was looser than I'd hoped-for on my align-bored block. I've heard of other folks complaining of the same situation--the chain seems to have excess slack on many blocks. This is why I rate it "four stars" rather than five. SOME MK IV blocks will need the retainer bolt holes drilled and tapped to match the retainer plate; others (like mine) have the threaded holes ready 'n' waiting. If you're installing this set on a Gen 6 block, it ought to work well, as they're the same components GM used when building those engines. more
