Nice but wrong

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

They looked like great axles, but we're .150" too long and I had to send them back due to interference with disc brake kit. Didn't get full refund because I had pressed in studs, so they were used.

Awesomely beefy axles!

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

These axles are much, much beefier than the stock axles in my GM car 12 bolt rear end. They are well machined and the splines mate up perfectly to the carrier. Visually, the axles are noticeably larger in diameter and the flanges are much thicker than stock. However, there are a few small issues to be aware of if you are considering these. First, as mentioned in the previous review, these are approximately 1/8" wider than stock axles. This may cause brake alignment or wheel fitment issues depending on what brakes you are using and how tight your wheels are to the wheel wells. My solution was to shim out the backing plate on my 98-02 F-body rear brake swap to maintain proper caliper alignment, the same could be done for a drum system. Another minor issue occurs when using ARP 1/2-20 wheel studs. Because the ARP studs are not threaded all the way up, you will either need to chamfer the back sides of the holes in the flange or use a hardened washer as a spacer under each bolt head. Chamfering the holes will slightly reduce thread contact while the added thickness of a hardened washer could cause the heads of the bolts to interfere with your brake system. Last, I had to chase a few of the holes to clean out the threads before installing the bolts. Not a big deal, it only took a few minutes. Given these minor issues, I would still highly recommend these axles to anyone looking for an upgrade in a street driven car that sees track time on weekends. ...read more

Great upgrade

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I am very impressed with the quality of this product and how much I spent on them. First time to rebuild my rear in my 1970 chevelle and doing it myself with parts from summit and moser made it well in my budget. These axles are very well made.
