Using advanced gas dynamics and sophisticated noise cancellation acoustics, Moroso engineers have developed these Spiral Flow racing mufflers. The specially engineered spiral baffles that are wrapped around a "straight-through" core divide the exhaust flow into two separate paths. This significantly reduces noise levels with minimal effect on the backpressure. They have a round tube case with centered inlets and outlets, and feature all-steel construction for durability.

Moroso 3" spiral flow muffler

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I have a supercharged LT1 Chevrolet that had a raspy resonance when lightly accellerating from 1800 to about 2500 rpm. The exhaust was two 2 1/2" pipes that Y'd together into a 3" single exhaust with a Flowmaster 50 series at the very back of the car and no cats. I added the Moroso muffler just in front of the rear end to try and get rid of the resonance and it worked like a charm without changing the tone of the exhaust. ...read more

Applied Physics At Work

I use these for 4/6 cyl applications. Be warned that they will increase your volume at idle when used as a replacement resonator, or at any time you are not at the volumetric efficiency for the inlet diameter, because the volume reduction is in decibels. It's an exponential reduction, so until the muffler is filled, it's going to be louder than a stock replacement resonator, or a glasspack muffler as a resonator, and will cause a pop back. The more air you push through them when used as a resonator, or the faster you go, the quieter the exhaust gets, the pop also disappears when they are at VE. It does what it says. It keeps velocity high, and the noise will be exponentially quieter than an open pipe in place of the Spiral Flow. I used one as a replacement resonator on a VR6 with a 2 1/2 system and muffler. It sounded like a big block until 3000 RPM, at which point the exhaust was silent and backpressure free with lots of extra power. It's also very durable until it's smashed into the ground quite a few times. This is a RACE part first, but not at all expensive, and it's also a great addition to a cat back system before the resonator AND muffler. That's why I just bought another one for my Saturn. ...read more

Didn't quiet my application

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This is very well built muffler. It is also packaged very well. I don't see it ever wearing out, except due to probable rust in the future. One word of warning though, the muffler is only swagged on one end (only goes OVER the pipe on one end and is made to go IN a pipe on the other end). I assumed both ends were swagged. This didn't quiet my application much at all. ...read more
