I did the research on all affordable heads for my sbc. I settled on these based on the the facts. Even though they are casted off shore they are machined by Blueprint Eng and Brodix valves and springs are used. I called there customer support and talked to the rep several times. He said these will support 6,500rpm which will match my cam and intake. I would have considered the Summit heads but they flow 5,500rpm. and are CARB friendly. I was impressed with quality and detail and seamless installation. Only time will tell how they withstand use but I believe Summit would not sell them if they were junk ...read more

Pretty good bang for buck heads

I have worked in an engine shop for over 5 years and have seen numerous brands of brand new, 'out of the box' aluminum heads come through the shop. Almost every head needs to have additional work done to make them ready to bolt on ie. surface needs machining, valve seats crooked, guides too tight etc. I did not know anybody who had used these heads on their engine but thought I would take a chance on them based on the price, knowing I could do any required work they might need. To my surprise, they only need very minor work.....the deck surface was slightly 'twisted' from one end to the other, and .003" removed the twist for a nice flat surface. The valve guides were perfect and the valve grind was bang on. Where the seats were pressed into the head there was a bit of smoothing required to get rid of sharp edges but the same goes on any head that's not CNC'd. The intake manifold fit perfectly without hassle which has been a problem on other budget aluminum heads. Overall, these heads appear to be pretty good quality, considering heads costing double the price are regularly in worse 'out of the box' shape. The valve springs supplied were tested and confirmed that they were able to support the advertised lift/spring pressures for a Hydraulic Roller application. They are making good power on my 355 based on my MPH at the track. Like the other reviews, time will tell how they hold up, but so far so good. I would not hesitate to order them again for myself or a customer who wants a decent performing head for a very good price, considering you will spend almost as much on fully rebuilding cast iron heads. ...read more

These heads look great. They appear to be Vortec style heads and they are drilled for both old and new style intake manifolds and valve covers. On the down side, they came with no instructions or parts list. I had to the internet for gasket and spark plug info.
