Built for performance and show, these K&N 69 Series Typhoon air intakes feature a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to fit many performance vehicles. Typhoon systems come in one of three designs--cold air intakes, short ram intakes, or complete cold air intakes, which can be configured as either cold air or short ram intakes. Some Typhoons have high-quality finish options, including polished aluminum, powdercoated red, and powdercoated silver, among other finishes. These K&N 69 Series Typhoon air intakes will dramatically reduce intake restriction, resulting in additional power and torque.

Typhoon Air Intake on MKV GTI

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Summit Racing had the best price I could find on this product and the shipping was quick. The quality of the product and packaging was very good. It took me longer than I expected to install but that was primarily due to the time it takes to remove all the older parts from the car and to put together the heat shield. I have the DSG transmission and in standard drive mode the intake makes a loud suction/squealing sound around 2000 RPM as it up-shifts. First time my wife drove the car, not knowing about the intake, she called me to ask what was wrong with the car, she said it sounded awful. But in sport mode or manual mode where the shifts are made at a higher RPM, it makes a really nice turbo suction sound. As for fuel mileage, I have not noticed any increase in MPG, if anything I get worse MPG, I was getting around 30-31 MPG before the intake and now I can't seem to get above 28-29 and that's even with a light foot. With a heavy foot in sport mode I'm lucky to get above 24 MPG. As for performance, it does seem to add a little extra power, either that or it just sounds like I'm going faster because I can hear the sucking sound so much more. In all I'm happy with the product but I do wonder if there is a better sounding one out there for the lower RPM range. more
