Built for performance and show, these K&N 69 Series Typhoon air intakes feature a free-flowing, mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to fit many performance vehicles. Typhoon systems come in one of three designs--cold air intakes, short ram intakes, or complete cold air intakes, which can be configured as either cold air or short ram intakes. Some Typhoons have high-quality finish options, including polished aluminum, powdercoated red, and powdercoated silver, among other finishes. These K&N 69 Series Typhoon air intakes will dramatically reduce intake restriction, resulting in additional power and torque.

Typhoon Air Intake on MKV GTI

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Summit Racing had the best price I could find on this product and the shipping was quick. The quality of the product and packaging was very good. I have the DSG transmission and in standard drive mode the intake makes a loud suction/squealing sound around 2000 RPM as it up-shifts, sounds like a squeaky belt. First time my wife drove the car, not knowing about the intake, she called me and ask what was wrong with the car, she said it sounded awful. But in sport mode or manual mode where the shifts are made at a higher RPM, it makes a nice turbo suction sound. As for fuel mileage, I have not noticed any increase in MPG. As for performance, it does seem to add a little extra power, either that or it just sounds like I'm going faster because I can hear the sucking sound so much more. **UPDATE 6/26/14** I'm running an AWE Downpipe with CAT and Resinator with APR Stage 1, Audi Red Top coils and NGK iridium plugs, getting ready for Stage 2. After having the K&N Intake on for 4 months, I decided to remove it and put the factory airbox back on. The car sounds much better (in my opinion) I can hear my exhaust note again rather than the intake noise and I haven't noticed any loss in performance without the K&N Intake. I felt like I was getting engine shudder in 5th and 6th gear with the intake, as if the car was getting too much air and not enough fuel, it feels like there is a nice balance between air/fuel delivery now. ...read more
