Made from durable 16-gauge steel, Hooker Competition headers feature 5/16 in. thick flanges that are heavy enough to maintain header integrity, yet pliable enough to seal each exhaust port. Unless otherwise noted, these headers are designed to fit the vehicle as it came from the manufacturer. This includes components like cylinder heads, chassis, steering, motor mounts, body mounts and bushings, etc. If your vehicle is using aftermarket components, parts from other applications, or custom altered parts, then it is the installer's responsibility to verify fitment.

horrible plating, bad fit

Out of the box, cylinder one had a nice (dime sized) chunk of plating missing. If it wasn't right there up in front, on the top of the pipe, I wouldn't care; but this was literally the first thing you'd see. Secondly, the plating job was pure garbage. You could see the run off from the plating was everywhere, on the pipes, collector flange, head flange. Other spots where bubbled, both of which will eventually lead to flaking after a few heat cycles. We aren't talking 1-2 spots, there was about 8-10 of them. Then we have the fit! These were supposed to work fit a 69 nova 350 w/ power steering. Even after shaving the gear box down, and using the included p/s pump spacer, the header was JUST touching the box, giving me a nice exhaust leak that could not be sealed due to the header touching the box. These are garbage, and I don't like saying that about a once reputable company. I'd suggest getting the MUCH cheaper uncoated headers and have someone professionally plate them, it will cost about the same and look 10x better. The fit I will deal with; I would have dimpled the set if the plating wasn't garbage. Save yourself the trouble, most of the imperfections really SHINE after the first heat cycle. Don't say I didnt warn you! I will say, Summit was more than helpful returning/exchanging them, I'm beyond satisfied with them! This is all on Hooker. Bad fit, bad finish, bad function...the quality is just not there anymore. ...read more
