Struggle to line holes up

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I was surprised to find that the new main body's (6)threaded holes for screws that hold the throttle body to it were out of alignment. My older carb is about an 8 year old out of the box Holley 650 double pumper. None of the holes lined up! They were about .030 off toward the right side of the carb. I carefully re-drilled my throttle body on the drill press until things fit. At that point, all the passages seemed right as judged by the gasket. Not Summit's fault, of course. I've never seen a Holley part so screwed up. I haven't fired the engine yet, but the rest of the parts went right on, so I am assuming it will work okay. ...read more

Holley 750hp Main Body

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I bought this HP main body to replace a standard 750 main body (4779-4) that was damaged. I can only comment on appearance, installation and fit as have not used it yet. Generally clean casting with the normal Holley casting edges. The bottom half and top half casting joins were slightly off centre resulting in the casting lips being more pronounced on one side but not excessively so. A bit rough on a few edges on the metering block flat surfaces that I smoothed off with a flat file. When joining to the base plate it was a good fit. The biggest issue was when putting the rear metering block and bowl back on. Both these items now butted up against the base plate rear vacuum port casting due to the new main body being slightly lower than the old one. I filed this part of the base plate casting down almost to the inserted vacuum port steel tube and then it had plenty of clearance. All in all, a good item should you require a new main body. All parts required for the changeover included in the package. Not sure if I would buy it as a performance upgrade for a 750 but could be worthwhile if you owned a 650 or 700 and required more cfm. Visually, much more appealing than the standard main body. ...read more
