These Holley 4175 marine carburetors include all of the same features as their street cousins--plus a few more that make them adaptable and legal for marine use. Primary differences include fuel bowl vent tubes, sealed throttle shafts, and universal marine calibration. Plus, they're designed to meet flooding and backfire requirements as defined by the U.S. Coast Guard. Other than that, they're typical 4175 quality all the way, with a spread bore flange, vacuum secondaries, single fuel inlets, an electric or manual choke (your choice!), 30cc accelerator pumps, and a 5 in. airhorn (unless otherwise noted).

Mechanic Needed

Volvo Penta 5.0, SX Outdrive. I assumed that this carb would be a bolt on with tweaks to the idle jets. In my application the secondary opened with hard acceleration from a stop, but then cut out just as the boat was begining to plane. Holley advised me to first optimize the primary jet. Then buy a secondary spring kit and try springs until the secondary held. As this was above my skill level and there was no guarantee that it would work I returned the carb. ...read more

Q-jet marine replacement

Good to have a newer option to replace the aging Quadrajet platform. 4175 is about the same price as a quality rebuild on a Q-jet

Replaces Stock Quadrajet Carburetor

Stock Quadrajet Carburetor continued to flood even after rebuilding it. Holley 4175 bolted up to the Mercury 350 cid 260 hp without having to change the intake manifold to a square bore. Had to use a spacer to clear the thermostat housing and a different fitting to hook up the fuel feed line. The stock throttle cable bracket will work if you grind down the bracket mounting hole surfaces and use jam nuts with different studs. No adjustments needed and no secondary springs needed to be changed out. Just dialed in the idle screws and installed a larger Holley flame-arrestor. Motor Runs Better then before! ...read more
