Replacement Steel Bars to Stainless Steel

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I very much like the "looks" of these bars and they make my truck stand out. However, the quality level of the product is not very good & I had to do substantial modifications to mount them well on my truck. (See Below) I purchased steel bars back in 09' and they were rusted out in the id. So I replaced them with the same bar in stainless steel. I had the stainless steel bars LineX coated - the coating goes over the plastic cap on both ends & did not coat the mounting surfaces. When I mounted the bars originally I improved the mounting hardware so I reused it. (Basically incorporated an angled pinch rail clamping bar & I primed undercoated & painted the brackets.) So they held up well. Both sets of bars had a 3/8" to 1/2" bow in them so I straitened them in a hydraulic press so they would mount without any added stress to the body. I recommend to anyone not to bother with the steel bars as they will rot out. ...read more
