Hole size doesn't work with older 385 series engin

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

The bolt hole sizes in front and back on these gaskets are made for the newer 385 series engines that use smaller bolts front and back than along the sides. For older engines using bigger bolts, Ford Racing recommends you drill out the holes. Take my advice: use a Dremel and stone to enlarge them. My experience is that if you try to drill them out, the bit will catch the small copper rings impregnated in the rubber, and tear them out. Not pleased with this part for my intended use. ...read more

Best Gasket, Bar None

All holes are sized for ¼-20 fasteners, including the four "corner" bolts. Take my advice and install 1/20 thread inserts and studs at these corners. This allows you to run the ford racing oil pan and....if your junkyard savvy....run the oil pan rails that late model EFI 460 engines left the factory with.

Corner bolt holes

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

The four (4) corner bolt holes in the pan gasket were too small. On my customers 460, and I think all are the same, the four corner bolts are larger than the others. This gasket had the small size bolt holes all the way around. I did not find this until I had the pan in place ready to be bolted up. I had to take the pan and gasket back from under the truck, drill the four corner holes to the correct size, then install the pan and gasket. Caused a lot of extra work and time. ...read more

Ford Racing Steel Core Oil Pan gasket

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

All the mounting holes were 7/16" which poses a problem for many 460's that have two 1/2" bolts, both front and rear. I read that people have found they can just drill the needed holes. The results of drilling almost renders the gasket useless if you are not careful. Truly a pain, but one piece is still the only way to go.

This gasket beats the heck out of the old cork multi piece gaskets.
