It is said that the heart of any vehicle project is the engine. Don't trust your heart to just anyone. Ford Racing, the people with experience and passion for engine building, introduce their 306 c.i.d. 340 hp crate engines. These crate engines begin with a seasoned block fitted with a precision-ground crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods, and Mahle forged pistons. Your build continues to breathe life with a hydraulic roller cam with a .498 in. intake and exhaust lift, and a .050 in. duration at 220 degrees, along with Ford Racing aluminum "X" turbo-swirl cylinder heads for improved airflow. A double roller timing chain set, dual sump oil pan, oil pump, and chrome valve covers sporting the "Ford Racing" logo are included. These engines are ideal for kits cars, street rods, Mustangs, Fox body cars, and trucks, helping you to gain the horsepower you desire at a price that you can afford. You wanted Ford Racing performance and value--you got it! Make these crate engines the heart of your build and convert your project's energy into a high performance machine. Get in line for these 306 c.i.d. 340 hp crate engines from Ford Racing--the people with high performance passion.

All horsepower and torque numbers advertised on our website are provided by the crate engine manufacturer. These numbers were achieved on a professionally operated dynamometer to compensate for variables like altitude, temperature, relative humidity, vapor pressure, and barometric pressure, all of which impact measured horsepower and torque. If you do not purchase a complete crate engine, the selection of additional components, and how those components are tuned, will have an impact on measured horsepower and torque. Ignition and fuel system components, as well as the fuel octane and quality of the fuel that you select, will impact the numbers. Please understand that, while horsepower and torque numbers are repeatable within reason, they will most likely not be reproduced identically.

Ford racing X302

I have had this engine in my car for about year. It has plenty of power and is very responsive. Problem is it sounds like a thrashing machine, I have tryed everything I can think of to solve this issue but nothing works. I have contacted Ford Racing at least four times and every time I get the same response, THESE ENGINES ARE A BIT NOISY, THATS JUST THE WAY THEY ARE! They just do not want to hear what my concerns are. I am just about ready to take the thing out and get an engine from a local builder that I can take any problems to directly. If you are thinking about getting one these engines I would recommend re-thinking it. Trying to solve problems over the phone just doesn't work, especially when Ford Racing doesn't want to listen to you. ...read more

Installed this in my street-strip 87 Mustang. I added deep oil pan,Edelbrock rpm air gap with Holley 600 carb. It has run best of 11.76 @ 113. Very happy with that! Alan in FL.

no low end power

The cam power band is from 3000 RPM, to 5000 RPM. No guts, under 3000 RPM

Great motor, but needs some attention from you

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

Overall this is a great product. Reliable, strong power and a great bang for the buck. That said...do a quick search online and you will see that these engines are prone to valve train noise unless you give them some special attention. These are not blueprint engines so this isn't a huge surprise. It seems the assembly plant that mass produces these makes some assumptions when assembling the heads. Out of the box mine had some loud clicking in the valve train. All of the rocks were install fusing spacers, but two of them didn't need the spacer so they and too much space and would click. I removed the spacers and they were perfect. noise is gone. Not a huge deal, but not exactly what I expected form a crate motor. I'd still recommend it 100%, This issue is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 overall. ...read more

Great engine

Recently had the engine installed and it's been a great performing engine. Plenty of power with this in my 1966 Mustang, glad I made this choice.

306ci Ford Racing Crate Engine

I have about about 500 miles on this engine so far. It likes to rev and the power really comes on around 3000rpm. I have put on a MSD Atomic EFI kit which works very well. The engine cruises at around 2000 rpm just fine but in my 1965 Mustang at 2200 RPM there is the Ford drone, just go above or below to make it leave. The engine will pull hard right to the 5800 rpm suggested limited and is a lot fun on the highway. In town with slow speed cruising it does not seem to like it but is tolerable until you get the revs up again. It has a mild cam that gives a tough sounding idle and that great hot rod sound at higher RPMs. I would recommend this engine as a good choice for a Ford crate engine where a small block is required. ...read more
