These AEM Induction Dryflow synthetic air filters are designed to deliver superior filtration efficiency and dust trapping over oil-coated, cotton gauze filters. They feature an easy-to-clean synthetic filter media that does not degrade from cleaning like cotton gauze-type filters. AEM Induction Dryflow synthetic air filters use a reinforced internal cage that is lighter and stronger than mesh types, a urethane body that will not shrink or crack like plastisol-based products, and an integrated velocity stack to increase the structural rigidity of the filler neck, all while improving airflow. They outflow most other brands with an impressive 99.4 percent filtration efficiency.

Great K&N Alternative

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

I purchased this for a 2013 Subaru XV and it's about twice as thick as the original filter and really fills up the airbox making it somewhat difficult to install. The deep pleats are what makes it thicker, there's a lot more filter surface area than the original because of that. I've been a longtime K&N user, but I decided to try the AEM because it's a dry filter (no oil) and the MAF sensor is very close to the airbox on this car and I was afraid of oil contamination. According the AEM, these filters were designed in conjunction with K&N and the quality is just as good. You won't have any performance improvement unless you remove the charcoal screen (if equipped) and then only slightly so in the upper range. Overall I am impressed with AEM. ...read more

Too thick

Summit RacingSummit Racing Verified Purchase

This filter installed on a Subaru Imprezza is just slightly too thick for the housing. While the airbox closes, the pre-filter air chamber is now reduced so all of the incoming air is directed to an area 1/4 the size of the full filter. Looks like AEM is trying to save money by using 1 filter that does not fit all applications perfectly
