Summit® staging lock systems can be big weapons in anyone's drag racing arsenal, for added performance at the starting line. They keep your front brakes engaged after you release the brake pedal, keeping you from rolling through the staging beams until you're ready to leave.
I use this solenoid as the core component of my F-Body and C5/C6 Corvette line lock kits I sell. Probably have in excess of 150 of these units on the road at this point since 2008 when I started. Every now and then I come across a bad one, but Summit does it's part and gets me a replacement asap. For the price, this solenoid can't be beat. It's nearly a carbon copy of the 3x as expensive Hurst unit. I'll continue to use these both personally as well as in my kits for the forseeable future....read more
This is the third Stage-Lock valve I bought from Summit. The first two worked fine at first and then failed so I thought I either had contaminants in the brake fluid or a defective valve. After carefully cleaning & flushing my brake system I installed this last one and it works fine. I took the failed units apart for a look & found that they contain a check valve which allows fluid to bypass the valve should you apply the brakes after closing the valve. Well I was doing that on purpose once I saw it would work that way. DON'T DO IT. The instructions clearly instruct you not to apply brakes with the valve closed. When the check valve gets used the little rubber seal becomes distorted and becomes unable to hold fluid pressure in either direction rendering the valve useless. My new Stage-Lock works good now and probably will for a long time....read more
Excellent line lock for the money, just keep in mind you will need to buy brass npt fittings from your auto parts store (not included) to properly install. Your brake lines have crimp fittings but they will not seal as you need npt fittings that have threads spaced differently at top and bottom so when you tighten the threads make the seal. Instructions aren't real clear about the extra parts needed, but a quick call to the summit experts made it crystal clear. My Mechanic was certain it was defective and we almost sent it back but really just needed the fittings. Thanks Summit!...read more
