Direct from Chevrolet Performance are these 502 c.i.d. bare engine blocks. These Gen VI cast iron blocks are a strong foundation for any big-block engine project. These "short-deck" blocks were designed to meet the needs of powerful and dependable 500 c.i.d. street or boat engines. The block cylinder walls are "Siamesed" and are bored to 4.47 in. The deck surfaces are reinforced to improve the head gasket sealing. Four-bolt main bearing caps are installed to reinforce cylinder barrels and add strength to the bottom-end. The distance from the crankshaft centerline to the deck surfaces is 9.80 in. They are used on 502 engine assemblies and partial engines, and can use roller or standard tappet camshafts.
