Line, Anderson Finish #1 and #3 in NHRA Pro Stock in 2011
Congratulations to Jason, Greg, and the entire Summit Racing Pro Stock team on another championship season!
Jason Line clinched this year's championship two weeks ago in Las Vegas, his second (he won his first title in 2006) and the sixth for Summit Racing Equipment and the KB Racing team in the past nine seasons. Line's teammate Greg Anderson won the crown four times (three consecutive times from 2003-2005 and again in 2010).
Team Summit Results: Pro Stock
Jason Line wanted to end the year at the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals in Pomona, California, in a style befitting his title run. Starting from the third qualifying position with a 6.538 second/211.20 mph pass (Line qualified in the top three 16 times in 22 races), Line defeated Steve Kent and Ronnie Humphrey in the first two rounds of eliminations before coming up short to Kurt Johnson in the semi-finals.
Greg Anderson began eliminations from the second qualifying position with a 6.537/211.66 effort. Anderson defeated Warren Johnson in the first round before losing to Kurt Johnson in Round Two. By securing third place in the points battle, Greg also cemented his name in the record books by finishing in the top three in Pro Stock points for the ninth consecutive season.
Ronnie Humphrey qualified sixth with a 6.555/210.77 pass. Humphrey defeated Erica Enders in Round One in a close race before losing on a holeshot to Jason Line in the quarter finals. Humphrey finished 11th in the points standings.
Larry Morgan qualified fifth with a 6.554/210.97. Morgan was defeated in Round One by eventual race winner Greg Stanfield. Morgan finished 13th in the points standings.
Kurt Johnson qualified seventh with a 6.560/211.06. Johnson defeated Shane Gray, Greg Anderson, and Jason Line before losing against Greg Stanfield in the final round. Johnson finished 12th in the points standings.
Warren Johnson qualified 15th with a 6.595/210.44. Greg Anderson beat Johnson to the finish stripe in the first round of eliminations. Johnson finished 15th in the points standings.
Team Summit Results: Top Fuel
Brandon Bernstein qualified sixth with a 3.846/316.08. Bernstein recorded a first round win over TJ Zizzo before coming up short against Tony Schumacher in Round Two. Bernstein finished sixth in the points standings.
Team Summit Results: Funny Car
Tim Wilkerson qualified seventh with a 4.122/304.46. Jack Beckman turned on the win light in the first round against Wilkerson. Wilkerson finished 10th in the points standings.
