Anderson Scores Crucial Countdown Win

The Full Throttle Drag Racing Series headed to the Texas Motorplex September 24-27 for the 24th Annual O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals in Dallas, Texas. Team Summit Pro Stock drivers Greg Anderson and Jason Line qualified fifth and second, respectively, with Anderson working his way through the field to win the event for the third time in his career.

Team Summit Results: Pro Stock
Greg Anderson beat back Warren Johnson in Round One, 6.680/206.89 to 6.695/207.66. In Round Two, Anderson drove past Allen Johnson at the top end, 6.676/207.40 to 6.668/206.99. Anderson won the semi-finals against Mike Edwards after Edwards first had difficulty staging, then shook the tires immediately after launching and coasted to the finish, 6.689/207.37 to 13.595/54.40. In the final, Anderson’s hard-charging Summit Racing Pontiac GXP passed Johnny Gray for the win, 6.684/207.11 to 6.713/206.64. The victory was Anderson’s 59th national event win, second of the season, and his third at the Texas Motorplex (2003, 2005, and 2009). More importantly, Anderson’s win catapulted him from sixth to third in the NHRA Pro Stock points standings.

Jason Line recorded a strong 6.611 second/209.33 mph blast down the Texas Motorplex quarter-mile track to earn the #2 qualifying position. Though it appeared Line had the competition covered heading into eliminations, Matt Hartford had other ideas. Although Line put together a solid 6.697/205.98 performance against Hartford in the first round, Hartford’s stellar .014 light combined with a 6.751/205.04 run was good enough to take the win. Line is fifth in the points standings.

Kurt Johnson qualified sixth with a 6.639/208.52. Johnson was defeated in Round One by Rodger Brogdon. Johnson is eighth in the points standings.

Larry Morgan qualified 10th with a 6.653/207.72. Morgan lost to Johnny Gray in the first round. Morgan is 12th in the points standings.

Warren Johnson qualified 12th with a 6.660/208.68. Johnson was beat to the finish stripe by Greg Anderson in the opening round of eliminations. Johnson is 11th in the points standings.

Rickie Jones did not attend the event. Jones is 10th in the points standings.
