IHRA Summit Racing SuperSeries Expanded for 2011
The IHRA has announced changes to the format of it Summit Racing Equipment SuperSeries program for sportsman racers, beginning with the 2011 season.
The SuperSeries World Championship finals will be expanded from an eight-car field to a 16-car field for both the Box and No Box classes, allowing more racers a chance to win a World Championship and a share of the lucrative $200,000 prize package.
Another major change for the SuperSeries World Championship is that two slots in each class will be reserved for Wild Card selections from a pool of SuperSeries track champions unable to attend a Summit Team Finals event due to travel and distance issues. As part of the SuperSeries program, Summit Racing will award all 16 qualifiers $1,000 to help pay for travel expenses to attend the Championship final at the season-ending World Finals in October.
